The food was far from soul food the stuffing was so mushy my dogs wouldn't even eat it the corn bead was hard greens salty the Mac and cheese was wet and nasty I'll never come back

First of all , This should be 0 starts. This place was horrifying.. I went with a group of friends just to get some food before we hit the road .. everyone was excited and honestly it smelled good when we walked in. I took a look at the yams and knew it wasn't real soul food. Almost everyone ordered chicken and waffles and they need to make them fresh so we waited about 3min and next thing you know we see a roach crawling up the wall.. The way i walked out the store to catch my breath.. My friend ended up canceling the 6 orders of chicken and waffles and he tried to pay for it but she said no it's fine because they didn't start cooking it yet (which was a lie bc i definitely heard the chicken cooking in the back) This place needs to be shut down. The health score dropped from a 86 to a 67 in 2 days. TERRIBLE !!!

I just don 't know where to start!! I walk in to get my uncle something to eat because he said he wanted to try this place when I took him to the bank. The food is on a line, the turkey wings look so dry, but sitting in gravy the my had bake chicken also! the veggies looked over cooked! It was some cream corn I asked the young lady what is this and she said some kind of corn ‍ it was so soupy! Wait the Mac and Cheese looked so over cooked!! The cheese looked so hard!! But wait they had the old school cornbread Hocakes but it was so many Dam flies on them! I just walked out!! They need some serious help in there!!

I don't think there's much chance that I would return for a second time. The only reason I even made a purchase this time was my desire to support the establishment. If anyone from Shirley's reads this, here are some suggestions from someone with over 20 years in food service. Make the food more presentable. Most of the items I looked at, in the steam table, were dried out, and looked like they had been sitting there all day. Maybe stir the Mac n Cheese or gravy from time to time, or baste the chicken or meatloaf with its juices to keep it looking moist. The Corn Bread was too greasy for me to eat and the yams were mostly hard. I'd also suggest that you take care to match your menu prices with the price that actually on the menu. The special is $9.99 on the menu, but rings up $10.99. You also might want to either explain or eliminate the extra 10% you're charging (for I don't know what). To sum it up, it seems to me that appearance and reputation are not high enough on the priorities list as perhaps they could be. Good Luck!
