Kiku-chan Japanese - Ellensburg

My family and I went to eat here, we ordered gyudon and tonkotsu-shoyu ramen. The beef tasted good, and was freshly cooked, not dry. The rice wasn't mushy or anything, and the ramen was in good portion, had nice presentation and the broth was smooth and the flavor wasn't overbearing. I actually really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, it's very laid-back and a nice little spot to eat, if you're in the area, it was also fairly clean when I visited. I believe a lot of people are being overly critical about the place, in my honest opinion. There's a few things they could improve on, we could tell that the water served was tap water. We personally didn't have a problem with it but I understand if you do, and yes, perhaps the staff can do better at cleaning but other than that, it's a solid place.

We ordered food over the phone while passing through Ellensburg. I should have read the reviews before ordering. The young man helping us was very rude. Seemed very put out that we were placing an order. When we arrived the food was not ready so we waited around for it to be done and unfortunately this gave me time to see how absolutely filthy the place was. Not sure how this hasn’t been closed down for health violations. When we finally got our food and were back on the rode I found some form of plastic in my food. No idea what it was but I couldn’t eat my meal. If you live there or are passing through go somewhere else!

Did not taste right and you don’t want to change that. Miso soup was okay) , The building is a little scary, as there are spots that obviously have not been cleaned in a while. The guy (younger) working there with who I assume the owner (older gentleman) was very rude to his boss and screaming about how this is his second job of the day and has been working since 5 am without a break and he is tired. I get it, been there but seriously, that’s not the customers issue. I have worked 36 hours straight between jobs before so again I get it but still.The older gentleman tried to smile and be polite but I could tell he was uncomfortable.

I'm going with a soft four star. I ordered take out. Food was okay. Service was good. I didn't stay for the atmosphere... Now let's talk about food. I got pot stickers and chicken rice bowl. You can't really mess up potsticker and there were on par with other pot stickers I have had. The rice bowl. Looked like cat food. Tasted fine. This was a great break from the other places in town. Price was okay. I think I will be back.

First time eating here, I got takeout udon soup, takoyaki, and katsu Don($25). The restaurant is a bit dirty but it's very cute. The food was delicious and came in huge portions especially for the price. Good, cheap, and comforting food.
