Toom Toom Thai - Elgin

In the past, I would have rated this place 4 stars; every time we visited, the food was enjoyable and the service was commendable. However, our recent attempt to dine there on a Sunday afternoon was a letdown. They were closed, and there was no information posted on their Facebook page, website, or even at the location. All signs indicated they opened at noon, yet nobody was there for over an hour past that time. It was quite disappointing. I recommend calling ahead if you plan to visit.

Make sure to let them know you’re vegan so they don’t use fish sauce. They're incredibly accommodating, and the last time I ordered, the guy who took my order told me about the new vegetarian options they added to the menu. Everything has been excellent. The host and all the staff are incredibly friendly. You can call ahead to inquire about their delivery menu, and if you're dining in, simply mention that you are vegan or vegetarian, and they will gladly offer suggestions. Most of the menu items can be customized to accommodate vegan or vegetarian dietary preferences.

First time trying it and I’m impressed with the flavor. I asked for the Spicy Basil lunch special and appreciated that they assured it was vegan. They had vegan veggie dumplings and were really good!

Update: the quality of food and services has decreased. we stopped here in the summer and unfortunately the place has completely changed. they order now at the front so it is more informal and takeout based. I assume it is another owner/cook, as the courts have also changed and are not as good as they use it. old: (4 stars) every time we have eaten here, eating was good with good service. we recently tried to go on a Sunday afternoon and they were closed. all the signs said they opened around midday, but no one was there a good hour or so after that time. disappoint. call them.
