Golden Oak Pancake House - Edwardsville

Bland food. Ordered a steak all I tasted was meat, no flavor at all. The hash browns was over cooked on the out side and the inside was just shredded boiled potatoes. Eggs were just scrambled, not a pinch of salt and it didn’t taste like they used oil or butter. Pancakes were 4 Stars and the service was 5 Stars.

Fantastic spot for breakfast! I have been here multiple times with the family for breakfast on the weekends. Great service, EGGcellent food :DIn addition, I recently placed a LARGE order for breakfast carryout for a group of 20 people. Cheyenne was FANTASTIC...patient, helpful and dedicated to getting our huge order correct. Really appreciate their customer service. Highly recommend.

Went here for breakfast as my mom was really wanting to try this place as she had heard good reviews. The place was absolutely packed at 9:00 on a Wednesday morning, the waitress was friendly, and our food arrived quickly enough. My only issue was the little things, like no silverware was brought out until after we’d gotten our food, and she never asked about refills for our coffee or tea. My food was okay, I got biscuits and gravy combo, and my son enjoyed the corned beef hash eggs. My mom said hers was okay. Other than that the food was good, but because the place is just so busy the service let it down slightly. My biggest issue was the group of 6 hospital staff in their scrubs obviously eating there after their shift. They were finished eating when we walked in, and were still sitting there after we were getting ready to leave, which means they were taking up a large table when folk were waiting for one. Clearly nothing to do with the servers, but management should have asked them to give up their table in my opinion. Just my thoughts anyway.

My first time here and it was an okay experience. Really didn’t like the food as much as i thought i would . All those apples on the pancakes ruined it for me .

The food was tasteless. The meat in my patty melt was so chewy that I couldn't even finish it. The waitress kept forgetting things and even sat with customers at another table instead of serving us. When I went to pay, I noticed a sign at the counter that stated there was a $2.50 charge for using a card, which only a short child could see. I mentioned to the cashier that they should make the sign more visible, but she just stared at me. Despite these issues, the restaurant was clean and the other staff we encountered were friendly.
