Syphay - Edmonton

Our first visit was amazing. The meals were all really good and the portions were way more than we needed. I look forward to going again.I loved the stir fry with black bean sauce. A friend had the pad Thai which was also delicious.

We've dined at many restaurants in Edmonton but have never encountered such poor customer service. His attitude was passive-aggressive, and his fake sincerity was evident to everyone. If he had behaved poorly towards all customers, I might have thought he was just having a tough day, but he was pleasant and friendly to other people behind us. The only reason I'm writing this review is that when I mentioned to another server how I wished Yong could be nicer as we were leaving, she went and informed him. They both were looking at us and laughing. We will definitely not be returning to this restaurant. I do not recommend it at all! I wish Syphay would address this kind of attitude.

The food was excellent, but the server, Yong, was quite rude and his attitude left much to be desired. I called the restaurant the day before to reserve a table for seven, and they mentioned that we could use the four Groupon vouchers. However, when we arrived at the restaurant, the server gave us a lot of trouble.

The service we received at Syphay was not what we're used to. The waitress seemed inexperienced; she was hesitant to take our drink orders before asking for our food orders. She managed to get four out of five drinks right, but then forgot one and made us wait 20 minutes for our food. There was also a significant gap of at least 10 minutes between when the first dish was served and when the last one arrived. Despite the service issues, the food is still the best in town. - Rollie

Visiting the area from Toronto and my research told me that this was the best Thai food around definitely did not disappoint. Ordered the salad rolls and panang curry with coconut rice. Server was incredibly kind and accommodating. The food was served really quickly and was absolutely delicious! Such bright and fresh flavours. An overall amazing experience!
