Bidrage med feedbackCame for a business dinner while in Edmonton. The restaurant is attached to an old motel in Mayfair. The parking is quite ample for the size of the restaurant. When you walk inside, you would immediately feel that you just walked into an old establishment that cries for updates. The ambiance didn't feel like Japanese at all. There are some few decors her and there but not your typical Japanese look and feel. We were greeted with a friendly smile and showed to our table at once. We sat on a side booth close to the sushi counter. We can hear loud conversations from the kitchen staff, to the point that they seem to be yelling at each other, then laughter would roar throughout the restaurant. They seem to be having a lot of fun doing their work and enjoying their company in the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best, I'm trying to be polite, but keeping it real. It was tough to order from a menu that has images of the dish without an idea of actual size, in some cases also the quantity. Since the place is an "eat all you can" restaurant, they have a strict rule that guests must not leave any leftovers, otherwise it will be charged as a regular a la cartel item off the menu. If it was your first time to the restaurant and have not tried all their dishes, one would be discouraged to try to being with. So we ordered the usual fair: California Rolls, Edamame, Shrimp Tempura, miso soup, and beef teriyaki. Hot green tea and a couple of local beers. Then $90 later including 15% tip. It was not quite the meal that we were expecting. A bit disappointed with the quality of food. I believe they were more focused on the quantity instead. Need immediate improvements for sure. Not coming back for a while, until I see improvements from management.
We were visiting Edmonton and wanted to have all you can eat sushi. After looking at reviews of several, we decided to come here. $32 for weekend dinner was quite expensive and there was a limit of 30 pieces of sashimi per person. It was no where comparable to all you can eat in Vancouver or even Barrie Ontario at this price tag. However, we understand each city is different.Service was fairly quick considering the restaurant was quite busy when we were there. Aside from selection of sashimi being disappointing, there were good varieties of sushi and hot food items. Sushi rolls come with 4-6 pieces. Some are tasty but some not so good. We wanted all you can eat and it satisfied our craving. If you are picky about Japanese food, perhaps go somewhere else. If you want varieties, try it and make your own judgement.
I went with my brother to check this place out. I heard it was good from a couple I met in Jasper. I have to say for what I paid and how much I can eat I feel I made the trip worth while. I will put the caveat that this an All-You-Can-Eat location so this is a place to go when you prefer quantity to quality. The salads were a good place to start. The crab salad turned out to be half a crab. It has salty meat and you can order lots if you want. The garden salad had a sweet ginger sauce. The mango salad looked like how most winter mangos look when you cut them open and they added a creamy mango sauce which made the flavour better. The miso soup came lukewarm. The seafood soup had a cut up fishball and shrimp. It came out piping hot. The Gyoza tasted peppery. I liked the dipping sauce. The Beef Tataki had lots of flavour with less garnish than I'm used to. Edamame came out freshly boiled and salted. The spicy mussels came out piping hot too. Give these a moment cool down before you try eating them. If you like sashimi order twice as much as you think you will eat because the pieces are small. Even the shrimp were tiny. The rolls is pretty good. They don't stuff you with rice around your maki which allows for more rolls to be eaten. I tried the sushi "pizza" which had fried rice bottoms with seaweed in the middle of the rice, it had the spicy mayo below and unagi sauce on top of the raw fish choice. It was worth a try and I'd probably get it again. The teriyaki sauce they use is nice. It's not unnecessarily thickened and packs lots of flavour. They put it on the grilled squid as well. If you are a celiac be careful of food you have previously known to be gluten free. We ordered the spicy tuna and spicy salmon and they were filled with panko in hot sauce. I suggest going with a group of 4 so you can get more variety and divide the portions better. Remember you can keep ordering what you found you like.
Extremely disappointed with this place. That's an understatement. Fish smelled like cat food, rolls were a soggy mess. I called to let them know that our order was an absolute disgrace, lady who took the call said she would talk with the chef and call me back. No call. 5 hours later I get a call from the delivery service, I state that I want a full refund. Restaurant offers a 5 dollar credit. Disgraceful. If i could give no stars I would.
This is our regular go-to spot for sushi, especially in a group. Because it is all-you-can-eat for one price, and the serving size for each dish is not large, it is a great way to try a variety of dishes. Wide variety of items on the menu (raw, cooked, vegetarian), so even the non-sushi eaters are able to enjoy dinner as well. Lots of sushi at a reasonable price!(Note: the tile floor can be slippery!)
