Cactus Club Cafe - Edmonton

Really enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant. Great food and service. Our server was Lainie who looked after us with friendly efficient service. The tuna tataki starter was amazing and we really enjoyed our entrees of squash ravioli and shrimp. We went all out and had a dessert of molten chocolate cake which was excellent. We will return.

Lots to praise here. To start, arrived and told a 20 minute wait but it was in fact under 10. That's good psychology. We were driving, so they did 'virgin' versions of the cocktails, and they were delicious. As was the food: I had the signature burger with fries; my wife has a chicken dish. Both were excellent: far above expectations so close to the Mall. The music came courtesy of a live DJ: good selection, loud but not too loud, and matched the clientele. All the staff were attentive and helpful. Easy 5 stars all round.

So I decided to go to Cactus Club because it was close while I was shopping. Honestly.....i don't get the hype about this restaurant. It is supposed to be some hipster place and perhaps it is in other markets. Here it is just a run of the mill restaurant where people line up. There is nothing trendy about the place or decor.I had the ling cod which was cooked well (I dislike overcooked fish so kudos). However I got about 4 oz of fish.....and 4 lb of rice and a far sized bill. Value is simply not there. The drinks are run of mill but about 30 per cent more then comparable places. The coffee is cold. The service is average. The atmosphere noisy. So I give it an average vote but there are better, cheaper, and quieter restaurants at West Edmonton Mall

We had purchased the "Unique Dining Experience at Cactus Club Cafe" at a silent auction for the Make-a-Wish Foundation which allowed 6 of us to go there and be spoiled for over two hours with fine dining with five courses, special attention from the manager and sous-chef (who came out and explained every course), wine pairing with every course. When I reserved, I mentioned that the date we picked to go was my daughter's wedding anniversary. They emailed and asked about allergies and food preferences.When we were there, my daughter got specified meals for herself which the sous-chef also explained and a special anniversary desert.The food was to die for and the staff was absolutely wonderful from the moment we were met at the door and whisked to our private table until we were all full and satisfied and ready to go. Definitely recommend going there.

I absolutely love this place! Every time I come the staff are very attentive and welcoming, the food is so good that as I walk out the door to leave I'm already planning my next trip back! Never had a bad experience and if you haven't checked it out yet, what are you waiting for??? :)
