Bidrage med feedbackBeautiful food, fresh and good variety of Indian vegetarian food, freshly made Dosa masala. Lovely rice pudding with pistachio to finish great value. Beautiful mosaics on walls which are worth the visit just to see these too. Charming waiter. Last time I was here was 30 years ago and still same owners and did not dissapoint. Will be back
It was a wet Monday night in January ,but still a busy part of the city and we were the only people in all night. Decent veggie menu and we opted to share a starter which was fairly good (pakora). Main courses were also tasty although lacking in veg (mainly sauce) and the diced veg looked like the frozen packet type. Fairly expensive drinks and when we got the bill (over £60 for a shared starter, 2 meals, a beer and a soft drink and a shared dessert) it was a surprise to see a 10% service charge added no mention of this on the menu. I’m afraid it meant the £10 intended tip was then withdrawn. Wouldn’t go back on principle, food and service decent enough but not outstanding.
Excellent value for money and a wide selection of food from around India! I will say that it was slightly unclear at the beginning since the all the staff members were in the back, but they came out and showed us to a table and were very friendly! Remember to ring cash, because they don't accept card at lunch
We had the lunch buffet. Booked for noon and could start eating 20mins later. Staff was polite and apologised. They first asked if we wanted to sit by the window, glass on the table was cracked but not a risk for customers. Food was delicious and we will return.
Usually I ask what vegetables are in the biryani, usually there is fresh cauliflower, green beans, maybe some aubergine, mushrooms, even a few chicken peas! This being a vegetarian place I didn’t ask. Their biryani was fried rice, with a handful of the cheapest frozen veg mix stirred in. Diced carrot, peas and sweetcorn (sweetcorn? in a curry? You know the kind from Farmfoods with broad beans too? Yes that stuff. There was a lot of chilli in the food too which is not right for a biryani. I am appalled at the extreme poor quality of this food. It was a takeaway. If this had been brought to my table it would’ve been sent back. 11.95 I paid for this, it came with two little plastic pots of yogurt, no gravy. The chef should be ashamed. Putting this food out and calling it Mughlai biryani. Maybe I should’ve taken the cue that the place was almost empty (when the Tanjore just a few doors up was busy . I will return. To return to food and complain in person.
