Simple menu, good eating served in the palatial old trunks. most pleasant a matching finish to visit in hopetoun
We had a lovely lunch here after touring Hopetoun House and before looking around the grounds. The food was good and the ambience lovely.
Came with friends for afternoon tea in the stables while we were at the Christmas fair at the house. The staff were very nice and the afternoon tea was splendid. Would definitely recommend.
We booked this in advance as we were staying at Parkhead House and going to be visiting Hopetoun House anyway and thought it would be a nice way to round off our day after walking to Blackness Castle. When we got there at 2.30pm it was the end of lunch but still busy, we had to get in a queue at the cash register to let them know we had arrived and had to wait a while as there was a difficult customer in front of us making a fuss. We had booked the afternoon tea with bubbles for $22 each but when the food came what they had on the other table for $7.50 looked just as good as ours and at an extra $5 for bubbles we'd have been better off with that option. The other scones were huge, ours were wee tiny things with fruit in them, definatley felt ripped off as not worth the money.
