I am giving this restaurant one star due to the quality of both the food and the service. I usually enjoy charming places, as they often take pride in their food preparation and the staff is typically knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. However, we waited 46 minutes for some incredibly greasy dishes. I ordered crab cakes that tasted and smelled more like tuna patties. While the flavor wasn't necessarily bad, it bore no resemblance to crab meat in taste or appearance. Additionally, the waitress and manager were rude, and the restaurant was uncomfortably hot and humid, making it hard to breathe. The unpleasant smell of fish added to the negative experience. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I won't be returning.

The experience was nothing special—just average. I had heard great things, but there are certainly better choices in the neighborhood. The oysters were decent, though somewhat lacking in flavor. The jumbo shrimp could have benefited from a bit more seasoning. For our main dish, we ordered a grouper and shrimp platter. The grouper was excellent, but the shrimp were just mediocre.

We were seated and it took about ten minutes for our waitress to approach us for drink orders, and she didn’t even introduce herself. Her attitude was unfriendly, with no smile at all—definitely off-putting. It took a long time to get our water. When she finally came back to take our food orders, my friend and I both ordered baked potatoes, but they were not cooked properly! How can you mess up a baked potato? We asked her to microwave it, but when she returned it was still undercooked. On a positive note, the fried grouper and shrimp were excellent! Unfortunately, the overall service was slow and frustrating. I paid in cash and didn’t receive a receipt, so when I asked for one, they looked at me as if I were crazy. After waiting ten minutes, they gave me something that didn’t even look like a proper receipt, claiming they didn’t have one. Moreover, we had requested separate checks, but they still brought us one total. I doubt the owner would be pleased with how their staff treated us.

I can't believe I overlooked reviewing this incredible restaurant! We visited in October 2014 and returned just this month. I tried the baby softshell crab dinner once and the crab basket on another occasion, and both were outstanding. The restaurant is just a 5-minute drive from AAF Airport, and the FBO, Crystal Air, provides loaner rental cars. It’s definitely worth a stop or a slight detour. Fantastic restaurant! It was conveniently located just a short stroll from our bed and breakfast. Brandis delivered outstanding service—prompt and warm. My girlfriend and I both savored a dozen raw oysters, which were amazing. I opted for the grouper finger basket, and it was outstanding; there was so much food that I couldn't even finish all the fries! We also sampled the fried pickle spears, which were surprisingly tasty. I had never tried fried pickle spears before, and they truly surpassed my expectations. We will definitely come back the next time we're in the area!
