Stamford House Cantonese And Takeaway

We normally get a take away every week but lately the quality has dipped significantly It's either a different group of chefs and/or a change to some cheaper ingredients. The end result is that we'll have to stop supporting this local business and go elsewhere

My family and I have enjoyed the occasional takeaway from Stamford Chinese for years. It is nearby and convenient for us. The food is good and we 've not had a problem until last night. I ordered over the phone early evening and was told it would be a 45min wait. I thought that was reasonable for a busy Saturday night. When I arrived on time there were another approximately 15 customers in the room, all looking very irritated. I struggled my way to the desk and eventually gave my name. Loud screaming could be heard from the kitchen. Over the next hour I was repeatedly told my order would be '10 mins ', 'a bit longer ', '20 mins '. Other customers in that room had ordered 3 hours ago! I understand that on busy nights there may be a bit of a wait and I am happy to accept that. However the real issue for me was that they kept accepting more orders over the phone, and some these were collected within 20 mins. There was no explanation given to the hungry crowd of people gathering at their front desk. After an hour, I ended up cancelling my order and walking away from the chaotic situation.

Well.. what can I say about the take away we had this evening. Absolutely delicious and probably one of the best we’ve had in a long time. I had the King Prawns in chilli and garlic. The sauce was gorgeous, big, fat juicy prawns and plenty of them. Hubby had the special fried rice a few more prawns in it next time?? with curry sauce and salt pepper chips. Divine. The prawn crackers were really tasty a great big bag of them as well. Service was quick. Will definitely be trying another one very soon.

We order takeaways from here, always ready on time and piping hot. Service is very quick and pleasant and the food is always very good, never had a bad one from here.

We tried the takeaway service for the first time and were impressed. The meals were delicious and portions were generous. The restaurant had clear procedures in place to address the current pandemic situation. We would definitely recommend it.
