Bidrage med feedbackLocated just a short taxi ride outside of Beverley, The Hide Restaurant is part of the Tickton Grange Hotel. I visited on a Sunday evening and was pleasantly surprised to find myself the only diner in the restaurant for most of the meal, as Sunday lunches are popular among Brits on weekends. However, I did not feel rushed and received impeccable service. Before being seated in the dining room, I enjoyed a delicious gin and crème de mûr cocktail in the cocktail lounge. The starter of pork cheek and smoked eel with beetroot and apple was a tempting combination that I couldn't resist. My main course of duck breast with a duck leg croquette was equally satisfying. Of the three Michelin restaurants I dined at in Beverley during this visit, Hide came in a close second.
We have enjoyed multiple afternoon teas at Tickton Grange, always of exceptional quality. We also tried their Sunday lunch once and decided to finally sample their à la carte menu for dinner. We were not let down, as every course from the appetizer to the dessert was excellent. The tea served in the lounge afterwards was also delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and we would highly recommend it.
The historic building and interior of this restaurant are absolutely stunning. The food is of exceptional quality, made with top-notch ingredients and presented beautifully. The dishes are imaginative and the wine flight options are interesting and well-paired. However, the service can be lacking and the prices are on the higher end. It was disappointing to be charged £5 for a coffee after already spending £100 per person on the meal.
Having been to many excellent restaurants over the years this meal showed particular glimpses of what may be a bright future. A couple of the dishes were of high quality (smoked carrot cucumber buttermilk) however we felt the falafel dish lacked finesse and quality. The service sadly does not give the chef justice in what they are trying to accomplish with their food. In order to gain that Michelin star the service will need vast improvement. We were served by two front of house staff members during the meal. A young lady who was very engaging and took time to explain the food, it’s source and stories of its creation however the male member of staff was not engaging, far to panicked and let down the overall service. Very disappointing. The food at the £50-£60 price point (6 courses) would of be adequate however at £75 it was far to expensive for the quality of the service and overall package. The chef has an exciting future with some slight refining of courses however the service has a long way to come to justify the Michelin star price point.
Had an absolutely fabulous experience With the tasting menu. Divine food which had been carefully designed and was a truly amazing experience. Extremely efficient service, friendly staff and a lovely chat with the owner. Each course was served with a very knowledgable explanation from the waiter. We had a superb evening and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something special.
