Hillside Sweet Shoppe - East Haddam

Now known as La Bella's, staffed by two friendly women on the date of our visit. Your standard ice cream flavors in cups or cones. We sat at their outdoor tables and enjoyed. Cookie dough was good, chocolate peanut butter was great, and watermelon Italian ice was delish. A short walk from Goodspeed, but watch out for that busy traffic!

The current place, as of June 2022, is called La Bella's. The staff person was very friendly, but the ice cream was... meh. Not super creamy. Also, the scoops were extremely small for the price. My wife and I each got a two scoop waffle cone and it was $14. The two scoops didn't even reach the top of the cone! They also don't make their own ice cream and there is no public restroom.

DO NOT GO TO THIS ICE CREAM SHOP. Man behind the counter was very rude and served me before telling me that they only take cash. So I literally had to run back to my car just to grab some cash and the ice cream was very lumpy and seemed old. And I even felt sick after eating it.

The most delicious ice cream. Amazing and personable service . Highly recommend the Banana Cream Pie Milk Shake!

Friendly greeting and delicious ice cream. Owner brings the ice cream out to you as he is abiding by the Covid restrictions. Very accommodating. If you’re in the Goodspeed area hiking or paddling or during the upcoming foliage season stop in and have yourself an ice cream and support a local business that’s been hit hard by the pandemic.
