La Masseria Ri - East Greenwich

Our party of 7 was here to celebrate my son's birthday. We started with the amazing burrata, tomatoes, prosciutto appetizer. We had the most delicious Cesar salads. For our Entree’s (Veal Saltimbocca, homemade pasta, eggplant, smoked mozz for 3 in our party, salmon with mustard sauce and my fabulous risotto with mussels) we were all very satisfied with our choices. Everything was delicious! We finished the night with cappuccinos, coffee and desserts. The winner was the Ricotta cheesecake. Oh, and the drinks were great. Our server, Nick, was excellent.

La Mass is one of the most beautiful traditional Italian restaurants in Rhode Island, a state that is loaded with them. Your food and wine menus are well cured and offer something for everyone.

I loved La Masseria for years, but last night was a great disappointment. My fish special (halibut) was dry and oversalted, and its legendary cheese cake did not have the same great taste as in the past. My daughters loved their entrees, but the Surf and Turf Special (File with 4 Shrimps) was $70. If it had been on the menu, I wouldn't have ordered it. My bill (two drinks) was $250 for the three of us. I'm not going back long.

The restaurant offers valet service, the attendant was so polite and friendly. We sat promptly and were greeted shortly after with our very nice waiter! (I can’t remember his name) but he was so attentive and friendly. Took our drink choices immediately, which were all very good. We ordered calamari, which was delicious. I was a little disappointed to not see any shrimp dishes on the menu. All of the other menu choices were all very good, and a wide variety! My girlfriend ordered the rabbit, which she said was delicious. I ordered the pork chop, medium, and it was was very dry. I was disappointed in the texture and flavor. Maybe next time I should order it medium-rare… I would definitely return, and try another selection as the others enjoyed their meal choices. Only one from our party ordered a pastry dessert, cheesecake, which he enjoyed! The rest of us had liquid desserts, all very good! I would definitely recommend this restaurant (just not the pork chops)
