Golden Dragon - East Geelong

We have enjoyed Chinese meals for decades but not Yum Cha? Maybe that was our mistake? The restaurant is interesting, an old bank, the ambiance is pleasant,the staff were excellent. Waiting time was perfect, but we were the only couple in there so thyat goes without saying. We found the meals to be quite different from the usual 'Chinese ' food we were used to. I had the Honey Chicken and my wife ate the Honey King Prawns, both very sweet as to be expected My Honey Chicken was fairly good but my wifes Prawns were a nightmare. The Battered Prawns hadn 't been shucked properley and each one was full of pieces of shell, uneatable. We queried it with the manager and she replied that the shell situation was normal for this meal and exprssed surprise that we found it wrong? Even though we complained about the situation, there was no offer of 'no charge ' so I reluctantly paid for poor quality meals. I did feel a little sorry for the restaurant as business was obviously not good and 'every little helps '. As a small aside, when I requested some Coffees and liquors to follow I was told we don 't have coffee but we can supply liquors Needless to say, we will not return We will not return.

Visited from Melbourne to meet family for yum cha. First impressions were that the venue and decor was very dated including plastic covering tables but the service was friendly and attentive. I had checked reviews so was still anticipating a reasonable food experience. Unfortunately the food lacked any flavour, all the food we sampled was so unbelievably disappointing.

Wonderful Yum Cha meal. We are regular customers over few years always find traditional trolley-style Yum Cha lunch fresh hot. Staff always pleasant helpful. Good value for money. We will return regularly

From a profound asian food lover, Golden dragon is by far my favourite chinese restaurant. Fantastic venue, the staff are always friendly and attentive, and the food is simply unreal. A must try for any chinese food lover! Quick delivery!

Our first visit to Golden Dragon was very good. Prompt service and the main dishes we chose being Beef in black bean sauce and a lemon chicken with fried rice were fantastic, especially the black bean. I haven't had a nicer beef in black bean than this one. Our night was topped off perfectly with complimentary fresh water melon wedges and orange slices to cleans the palate. Can't wait to go back and sample more.
