Houston Avenue Bar & Grill - Peel

This restaurant is plundered! very strange that they can reserve, get a reminder to go, and come to closed doors and a black interior. opentable should be updated! Anyway, it's okay! we went to a great restaurant 2 blocks away that opentable said was fully booked

Amazing service. Went with a 9-month who is starting to eat by himself (makes a mess! . The waiter offered to wash my son’s plate and utensils and gave them back to us clean (no restaurant had offered this before ! Didn’t allow us to clean the floor or the table! And because they didn’t have a changing table in the bathroom they set up a temporary table in a quiet place, offered a trash can, etc etc to my wife. Super recommended!

My buddy and I chose the burger from the MTL a la carte menu with a salad entree and baked rice pudding as dessert. Avoid all 3 if at all possible. The only redeeming item of food were the sweet potato fries that came with the burger. We thought the salad entree and burger were bad, the dessert was far, far worse. The rice pudding was disgustingly salty...yes, salty. It was literally like eating a spoonful of salt. I asked the waiter if the chef mistook the sugar for salt by accident when making the rice pudding (I 've done that), his reply was, it 's supposed to be salty . That is the first time I 've not eaten my dessert at a restaurant.

Terrible service. Took forever to get a water refill. Took 3 tries to get dinner rolls for my tuna tartare. Would never recommend to anyone. Waiter kept making excuses. Sauvignon blanc was lukewarm because fridge was broken

We were looking forward to tasting a few of what Houston's had to offer but were disappointed with the service and the quality of food and drink. Despite being very quiet when we were there, our server took a very long time to get our orders and bring out our food and drinks. The drinks were alright but the fountain drinks were very watered down (it seemed like they sat with ice in them for a while before being served). The food was alright but not worth the price, even considering its Downtown location. The server seemed quite short with us and impatient in a way that made us not comfortable to speak up about issues with our orders. It should be highlighted again that the food took over 40 minutes despite having very little other people to serve and only ordering a few dishes to share. This experience makes me think that I will not be quick to return.
