Trattoria Salve - Durham

The place was nice enough and the service was ok, but eating was not very good we all ordered the bolognese pasta dish and it was dry, did not fit the description described on the menu and tasted old!

Just left restaurant after one of my worst restaurant experiences in years. Arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time, and it took the hostess almost 20 minutes just to recognize us- or anyone else in line. The took another 10 minutes to return when she proceeded to mumble something and wander with us until she found a table. Another 10 minutes until a waiter arrived, poured water, took a wine order, offered to bring bread, and then disappeared for more time. Took food order which took forever. Salads were poor to average and significantly overpriced. Bread never came. Told a fresh loaf was coming out of oven. After another extended period day old sandwich bread was brought. 1.25 hours after reservation time, meal arrived. Lasagna tasted like store bought frozen. Pasta was fair, though not as described. Will NEVER return here. 1 out of 10 service. 3 out of 10 food. So many better area Italian restaurants. NO reason to waste your time and money here. And no one associated with the restaurant seems to give a hoot.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. We came here to celebrate our anniversary. We made reservations for 6:45 pm. The hostess told us she had to clean off a table and would seat us in a few minutes. Totally fine...15 minutes later we still weren't seated despite there being 10 OPEN TABLES. My fiancé had to find the hostess and make her seat us. She said the kitchen was busy and we wouldn't get any food for a while. We sat at the table for a half hour without a single person coming to talk to us. No water. No acknowledgement at all. My fiancé had to grab glasses from a neighboring table and ask a waitress for water. She offered to be our waitress. We gave her our order of an appetizer And two entrees and asked for 2 drinks. We received the drinks and asked for bread. They were out of bread. An Italian restaurant out of bread?? Ok. We waited another half hour and never received any food. Not our appetizer or entrees. After being there for over an hour and a half with no food we left. They actually made us pay for our drinks despite the acknowledging that they gave us HORRIBLE SERVICE. Don't waste your time or money here. I understand places get busy but they weren't even busy!! They just blatantly ignored people because they didn't want to wait on us. We weren't the only ones.

Let me start with the big one! the lasagna! yummo! I tried 4 different cocktails. They're not so great now. I ordered half caesar salat $4) and a friend ordered the whole caesar salat $8) and they were almost the same size. the whole salate should have been much bigger for $8. the cannoli was not my favorite. I didn't like the aroma in the cheese. our server. I think she was new, very embarrassing. I was a waitress and wanted to give her a few tips, but resist. do not ask us every 5 minutes if we need something and stand there when we say no. it was very unpleasant. if our waterglasses are under half full tone, fill them out, do not ask them. our conversation was constantly interrupted, very frustrating. they gave us very good suggestions to drink and feed. then stood there and stared at us after we said we wanted to wait for our drinks. She was very sweet, but she just needs more exercise. the lasagna and cocktails won the 3 star rating.

Had a wonderful meal with a friend. her new menu has a large selection of pasta, dinner and flatbreads.
