This is a Traditional no frills pub close to the Derwent walk. Great for people out walking, as you don't have to worry about wet muddy footwear and clothes. I sat next to the real coal fire, which on a chilly day was lovely. Dogs are made to feel welcome and are offered bowls of water. The choice of food seemed limitless, I had the Bubble and Squeak. It was tasty but there was too much of it and I had to leave some, much to my disgust. The only criticism, was that they could not offer soya milk to my friends and did not have any gluten free puddings.
Lovely pub right on the main road and the Derwent Walk. Enormous portions of very good food. Would have given it 5 stars but the Real Ale was off both times I was in. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
Lovely pub accommodated 12 of us with little notice. The food was delicious especially the jam rolypoly it was the best I've had in years, will definitely be back!
