Clarks American Bistro - Durham

Was out visiting daughter on busy Sunday. They had a crisis in the kitchen with a cook cutting his hand. The owners went to every table to explain food delays. The staff did an amazing job of keeping us informed. I worked in a kitchen in college so know that once something like that happens you may next get caught up. Food was not that long, have waited longer at other places. Some around us not so kind and patient despite the owners and staff doing great work. Oh, and the food was great. Try the French toast. Typical American restaurant in the center of Durham, with a beautiful decoration and super friendly service (Eric, a charm). We had some Fish&chips, some shrimp tacos and a chicken sandwich and it was all tasty and abundant. With a pair of rods, €72 for the three. All great. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch

We ordered the usual stuff: burgers, fish ?n? chips, fries?.and it was not so good. Overall, food was bland and tasteless?all of it. The lifeless fries were a strange brown colour, like the oil in the fryer wasn?t changed. The fish was just OK and the coleslaw was limp, as in soggy and old tasting, and again, without flavour! I was hoping for more and was also really missing Young?s. Never again.
