Bidrage med feedbackA lovely restaurant and bar serving freshly home cooked food. Portion sizes are good and the food was excellent. My wife is very fussy about her steak pies but loved the one she got here. I had scampi and it was good as well. The decor and surroundings don 't scream modern but that is part of the charm. A warm welcome from the hosts (and the locals) in what clealy is a well loved community hub. The prices are very reasonable and while it 's not the most extensive of menus you should be able to find something you like.
This is Cracker of a little pub. Food was excellent and the service was great. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.
Whilst staying in Kirkcolm we popped in for fish and chips. The landlord is very welcoming and his wife is a wonderful cook. This is a traditional pub which if you hanker after memories of what a pub used to be like before Wetherspoons took over the world you will not be disappointed.
What a fantastic welcome from the min we walked in x we were greeted with such a friendly smile and were seen to immediately x we were shown to the back where there was a beautiful welcoming garden, drinks were served within minutes x the owner wasn't shy and spoke to us as of he knew us forever, conversation was easy We placed our food order, we were already told it would be 30 minutes but we were happy to wait, we weren't in a rush at all x my gosh those 30 minutes were WELL WORTH the wait.. the food is to die for, ive never seen a pie
A few weeks ago, I decided to book a hotel in Stranraer for my family before our ferry to Ireland, as the 3 1/2 hour drive from Cumbria on Saturday morning might have been a bit tight. I found this charming hotel just outside of town on Booking.com. We arrived a little later than expected at around 7:45pm and saw a sign outside that they serve food until 8pm. The landlord was very friendly and accommodating, and made it clear that they not only cater to guests during the week, but also to all visitors in the village. The food was fantastic - the lasagne, which had received high praise from others, was the best I've ever had. My wife loved her fish and chips, saying they were light and delicious. I booked two rooms, one for my wife and I, and one for our two and three year old daughters. The landlord graciously put our rooms side by side. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, while still maintaining the historic charm of the building. There was plenty of hot water for a shower. The girls had a great time and enjoyed their meals, and we were happy with the delicious and plentiful breakfast that set us up nicely for our ferry crossing and drive. If we ever find ourselves in South West Scotland again, this would be our choice of place to stay.
