Bidrage med feedbackLobster Bisque It was okay. I did not finish it all. I would give this 3 stars. I'm not sure I'd order this again. Tasted Sweet. Prime Rib 1 pound of Medium Rare Prime Rib. Cooked exactly to the order. Definitely had leftovers. Tasted amazing and I highly recommend the caramelized onions. The seasonal vegetable were carrots. This had a really tasteful seasoning. I very much enjoyed these. I would give this meal 5 stars and would order again. Loaded Tots These by themselves were okay but the sauce that came with it, some kind of ranch mixture, made it very good. I would give these 4 stars. Our service was some of the best we've ever had. His name was Jordan and if I could request him every time I would!
I confirmed the dress code is casual, but the old school jazz/big band music made me feel like I should have worn a creation like Ginger Rogers wore in her movies with Fred Astaire. Lots of beautiful woodwork too. The menu has a range of choices from classy dinners to comfort food to sandwiches. I opted for comfort with Swedish meatballs. They were nearly as good as my mom's and the mashed potatoes were perfectly fluffy. We were a large group and 2 of the party arrived late, but we were served in a reasonable amount of time after that. This is the kind of place where you enjoy conversation while dinner proceeds at a leisurely pace. However, I did have to remind our server that I had ordered a salad.
If you are looking for a restaurant for a group with s fancy but traditional food and a good traditional cocktail list, this is your place. I attended a retirement dinner here with a set menu, so I can't opine on the menu, but the drink menu had a wide selection. Not sure I would recommend the House cab, but my Manhattan was excellent. My walleye and sweet potato doe sub we were quite good. The view overlooking Lake Superior was excellent as was the service. Friendly helpful wait staff. Definitely the place to take your family or out of town friends or family who want something slightly fancy and typically Minnesotan.
We were up North for the weekend with friends who got engaged at Black Woods 20 years ago. After all these years it is still a first class place. Salmon was prepared very well. The Manhattan Reuben had a rich smokey flavor that was excellent. The brick oven pizza was also excellent. The rotisserie chicken was fresh and good comfort food . The cheese curds lived up to expectation you know Minnesota cheese! They brought a special cake for our friends which was a nice touch. Frank our server was friendly, attentive, really knew the menu. Great overall experience.
Professional service and old steak house ambience are the hallmark of this decade's old establishment within sight of the shores of Lake Superior. We started with the Wisconsin cheese curds and Wild Rice soup. The curds were not anything like I've seen before. Square, crispy and savory. Definitely recommend. The main course was the Parmesan shrimp and steak. The steak was OK but slightly overcooked. The shrimp were seasoned well. A must stop while in Duluth.
