Bidrage med feedbackWe booked a table fo r 6 for Saturday evening. As we where 8 minutes late, they told us last 6 schnitzel had already been sold to other 6 people who where eating.Totally disappointed. Rating is linked to the service. . as we could not taste the food
This has is pretty "special", but definitely with a try ... there is noch menu - you should go there if you wanna try the best "Wiener Schnitzel" in town !! Never had a better one around D'dorf and the value for your money is really huge ! The interior and the service is may be not up to date, but for a great "Schnitzel" I don't care ...!!
Visited with two other friends who had been before and knew what to expect. We only ordered two of the Vienna Schnitzel. They were so huge I couldn't believe how large they were. Both each covered a large sized dinner plate (similar to a large pizza)and to be honest one would easily have served the three of us. The cucumber salad it was served with also very tasty. Poldi (Leopold) has been a restauranteur for many years - he is now 90 years old and just loves pleasing his customers and his pricing is very reasonable too - actually there is no price list or menu. It is either the Schnitzel or steak. As I said in the title - a unique experience.
Poldi is a real Institution in Dusseldorf. His Schnitzel is larger than any XXL Pizza. The taste is fabulous and the service is unique. Of course this is a special type of restaurant that will not suit to everyone. Therefore some of these negative reviews. So if you like no Schnitzel there is no point of going there. However if you like it you shall love it. Poldi also has no menu. There is only Schnitzel or steak.
Definitely worth a visit! Unique little restaurant, good atmosphere and tastey good, just not your usual experience! Schnitzel was fab and cucumber salad very nice. The owner is a character but overall enjoyed our meal.
