For people that want to try traditional german food and plenty of beer in a traditional setting. They serve German-style altbier (of their own production) that is crisp and smooth. Efficient grumpy staff will keep refilling for as long as you don't put your beer...mat on your glas. Do not expect upscale cuisine here: Pork knuckle, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and the like. Enjoyable experience.

We have never experienced anything like this before. The whole restaurant was packed on a Sunday evening. Nevertheless, we found a free table in the back room of the huge restaurant. After we took a seat, we noticed that most of the guests in the...room were sitting in front of empty tables, i.e. they had neither something to eat nor something to drink in front of them. A waiter was also not to be seen. After some time, a waiter was in sight who was totally overburdened as he couldn't serve all the guests by himself. After watching this disaster for more than 20 minutes, we left the restaurant like many other guests. On the way out, we saw stacks of empty plates in the other restaurant rooms, which were simply not cleared. One must see positively that the visitors in these rooms had obviously been given something to eat. Such conditions are unacceptable and we were very surprised, because in the past the restaurant could easily accommodate many guests.

You can find this restaurant is in the city centre, really easy to find. Beautiful location,it is like the typical German restaurant and the food is not so bad. I had a dinner here but the starters weren't the best, the bread was bit old,...but the main courses were way better Big portion, good price and the man who served us was really professional and polite. I recommend it. Thanks for your time.

Sunday lunch in the Aldstaat Dusseldorf wandering the streets and stumbled across a classic in the bar. Great service ...friendly...the food was amazing the goulash rocked full of flavour created in part from the by products of their own beer production. Highly recommend

The bartender is as rude as the beer is good... That's a shame because the waiters weren't so bad except it seems it pisses them off to speak english. Building is old but with style.
