Last vacation! The arrival to the Baltic Sea was planned with an overnight stay in the beautiful town of Duderstadt. At the later noon we arrived and found a free parking space right away. Our visit to the medieval town with beautiful half-timbered houses was the only way to hunger. We discovered the rat cellar and from the outside it looked inviting. The beautiful outdoor areas in front of the restaurant were empty, the weather was simply not so tempting to eat outside. It was already after 14.00 when we entered the Italian restaurant. Probably the owner greeted us and we carefully asked if a lunch was still possible. She waved us nicely, actually the kitchen was already closed. The restaurant is divided into two rooms on the right and left of the entrance. We were allowed to choose a place in the room with a pizza oven. The restaurant is rustic and well maintained. The friendly lady of the house handed the cards and shortly afterwards she accepted our order. 1 non-alcoholic wheat beer, 0.5 l € 4.50 and 1 non-alcoholic pils, 0.33 l € 2.80. The spouses Pizzano run the restaurant. What was closer than (besides beautiful seasonal day offers) to order a pizza? 10 pieces were available. My husband chose the pizza rustic (tomatoes, cheese, ham, fresh mushrooms) € 9.50 and I chose the pizza Frutti di Mare (tomatoes, cheese, seafood) € 13.90. A young man referred the position of Pizzaiolo next to us. And we could see how fast and routined the dough pieces were shaped and occupied. A few minutes later, our steaming hot pizzas were served by the pizza baker. Nice to sit so close to the pass. It's not fresher and hotter. Such a fine dough store is not about as popular. Nice that fresh mushrooms were used on the pizza rustica. Pizza Rustica For our taste the pizza could have become 1 – 2 minutes darker. The wort was also very discreet. The dough is thin and airy at the edges. Frutti the Mare consisted mainly of mussels (there would have been less more), small shrimps, squid strips and a few Venus mussels. Pizza Frutti the Mare Finally, unfortunately, they did not stand out from the good standard. I often miss some fresh herbs on the pizza. It tasted, we were not disappointed. And it was a very friendly and nice return!
