Bidrage med feedbackWe had dinner today, and it was a delightful experience. The owner is a genuinely nice person who was very welcoming and offered excellent service. As for the food, the chicken biryani was outstanding, and we enjoyed it the most! The goat biryani was decent, but the meat was incredibly tender, fresh, and delicious. Overall, it was a great value for the money!
During my visit, I received no greeting and felt a lack of warmth as a customer. I was dressed appropriately for a traveler, with my knapsack and shaving bag, but the man at the register had an unfriendly demeanor. He avoided making eye contact with me and walked away when I reached for a menu without him inviting me to see one. I rated the food three stars because I know that East Indian cuisine can be excellent. Coming from a West Indian background and having been raised in NYC, I’m familiar with a wide variety of flavors, so I know good taste. Unfortunately, I got the impression that if you aren’t East Indian or affiliated in some way, you’re not welcome, which is why I chose not to eat there and I won't be returning. For those who appreciate respect and good Indian cuisine, I recommend my good friends over in the downtown area at Aamar. They will serve you with warmth and a smile.
I used to go to Al-amin a lot and the food was always pretty good. I am not sute if their chef has changed over the past year, because the taste is not the same anymore (specially the biryani and tehari) and the amount is also much less than before. Very disappointing.
Went there once. Haven't had such disgusting Beef Tehari in my life. Tasted like rice thrown in a pot of cinnamon and cloves and not the other way around. Took Goat Vindaloo to-go. The only place I've been to in the US to not pack rice with vindaloo. Mughlai was edible. Wanted to support my fellow countrymen's business by being a customer, but I'm not going back after this experience.
**Hilsha Fish:** I was quite disappointed with the Hilsha fish dish. While the taste was decent, I was surprised to find that half of the fish pieces were small sections close to the tail, which made the dish's presentation unappealing and less enjoyable. I would give the taste a 3 out of 5. **Rice:** Unfortunately, Al-Amin served low-quality rice instead of the Basmati rice I was expecting. The subpar rice significantly impacted the overall meal, as the quality of rice is crucial for a satisfying dining experience. **Dal (Lentil):** On a brighter note, the Dal was enjoyable, featuring a nice balance of flavors that added to the meal. **Chotpoti:** The Chotpoti was one of the standout items in my order. It was generously portioned and packed with delicious flavors. **Moghlai Porota and Samosa:** Without a doubt, the Moghlai Porota and Samosa were the highlights of the menu. These dishes truly shone, leaving me impressed and fully satisfied. **Packaging:** However, the packaging was disappointing. The low-quality materials resulted in much of the food being poorly packaged, which is unacceptable for takeout. This flaw affected both the presentation and freshness of the dishes. Overall, I would rate Al-Amin Supermarket Restaurant as an average establishment. While some dishes were tasty and impressive, the issues with the rice quality, fish portions, and packaging were major drawbacks. If there's an option to dine elsewhere, like at Purnima, I'd recommend that over Al-Amin. In summary, Al-Amin Supermarket Restaurant has the potential to enhance its dining experience by addressing the aforementioned issues. With a few necessary improvements, it could become a more competitive and appealing choice for customers looking for a satisfactory meal.
