Bidrage med feedbackI went with family and friends who had been several years ago. Despite the bad reviews I trusted their recommendations. What I have seen in other reviews is true starters come out and they are apparently the same all the time. Pizza bread, socca (that was ok), cheese bread, olive paste, buffalo mozzarella, etc. The starters were just ok . Pasta dishes are next mushroom ravioli was tasteless. The other dish, penne with mussels, was so salty that no one at the table ate it. Then the main dishes came out one was a small whole fish (tasteless but edible), rabbit (extremely average) and wild boar (fatty and disgusting). Desert was some generic cake. Wine was ok and included. Menu is fixed price (30 eu). I would not recommend this place, it is sad because apparently in the past it used to be very good.
We returned to La Vecchia after 34 years. For my 50th, we wanted to relive the experience we had back then. A total feast! Returning there for my birthday, were not disappointed. Though, you have no choice of the wine or the food, it doesn't matter. It keeps coming and it's delicious. Also, the atmosphere is very relaxing and you can chill with your family. Our dog came along and made a friend there.
Do not go to La Vecchia if you are not hungry! The meal is organised as used to be the tradition in trattorie; the waiter brings a selection of delicious beginners from which you can choose or eat all if you want. Then there are at least three different pastas, followed by at least three main courses usually meat based. There are two or three sweets offered and then home produced digestivo or limoncello. The ingredients for this extravagance are largely grown or raised in situ and is fresher than fresh. The wine is made from their own grapes and is good too; even the water is excellent! The waiters are charming and attentive and mine host is on hand to check how guests are enjoying their meal.
