Rifugio Vallandro - DOBBIACO

Good Kaiserschmarren. Good value at €10.90 for the portion size. Soft drinks were comparatively a bit pricey however. The rest of the menu also looked good with plenty of vegetarian options on there.

On our hiking trail from the parking car of Prato Piazza to the summit of Monte Specie, we reached this beautiful rifugio where you could rest and eat. I just has a coffe, but you can taste there typical local meals and there were many customers having lunch there. You can eat inside or outside admiring the magnificent landscape around you.

This hut is more commonly called the Dürrensteinhütte. We had lunch here in the sunshine amid spectacular snow clad mountains. Good local dishes, particularly pasta. It gets crowded at lunchtime when the weather is good, but the staff are efficient and at least tri-lingual. When sitting at one of the tables outside, don't expect to have it to yourself. If there is space other people will ask if places are free and expect to be able to join you. It is a mountain hut after all. You can walk down the old military road to Schluderbach afterwards to the bus stop in about 2 hours.

Dopo un percorso abbastanza semplice si arriva a questo rifugio che può essere il punto di partenza per arrivare alla cima del monte specie, oppure al ritorno. Classico rifugio montano , abbiamo mangiato bene e speso nella media. Sicuramente da provare

Ci siamo fermati in a pranzo. Bellissimo il panorama circostante. Abbiamo ordinato i maccheroni del pastore, i ravioli al burro e alcuni wurstel con patate rosticciate e sacher con panna. Porzioni generose e ben presentate. Personale cordiale. Prezzi giusti.
