Living on their reputation. Good, but overpriced beer menu. Overpriced food has gone downhill. BBQ Ribs used to be quality meat, St. Louis style. Now lesser quality meat with a sweet gummy glaze of questionable style. Four people feel jammed together in too tight booths.
We accidentally stumbled on to this place looking for the local grocery store. Hungry, but not wanting fast food, we rolled the dice and went in. So glad we did. This is my favorite kind of place. Loved the auto garage themed decor. Plenty of large TV screens going, with sports, news, and entertainment channels, and an “oldies” blend of music in the background. The meet, greet and seat kicked off with a warm welcome and quick seating. This place is quite large and it was pretty busy. The foods I saw carried out looked very good. Our server quickly appeared and took our drink orders, and just as quickly reappeared with the goods. Their menu is largely BBQ and comfort foods. I ordered the classic cheeseburger with house mac and cheese as a side. The wife ordered the French onion soup and a brisket sandwich. The food was brought out within a reasonable time, and served piping hot. It did not disappoint. The burger patty was fresh, and the mac and cheese tasted home-made. The French onion soup was better than expected and the brisket sandwich, while unexpectedly pulled and sauced, was very good. My wife expected sliced brisket and doesn’t much care for BBQ sauce, and still liked it. We very much enjoyed the meal, the decor, and the great service. This will be a do-over every time we pass through Dillon.
Atmosphere was great service was a little slow but that’s anywhere nowadays so no deductions for that. The food was good cooked just right the only deduction the place gets is for watering down their ranch sauce. It’s cheap and shows they are slightly dishonest. But other than that I would eat here again.
Recently they have significantly reduced their menu and stop serving such favorite dishes as jambalaya, steak, prime rib sandwich, southern catfish, etc. What a shame. Be prepared to wait to be seated and then served--it took almost an hour from ordering to being served a couple weeks ago. No explanation or apology offered. Maybe they just can't find enough good help now. Still the restaurant and bar remain popular and crowded. Long-time local customer and we had previously rated it excellent. We hope it goes back to serving several dishes and returns to the Sparky's of the past.
