Bidrage med feedbackThis is my third time at Maccabee Traders. It is consistently delicious! The service is attentive and fast. The bar is extensive with interesting options. There are a variety of options that simply our group, a vegan, 2 gluten-free and one that does not eat pigs or shells. No problem! Very recommended for all occasions.
Our first time in this recently opened place. The location opposite the DIA is fabulous. Dark inside, but large windows look at Woodward. (If you are facing the windows and your friends have their back to the windows, you will have a hard time to see their faces when you are sitting in the dark part of the restaurant. Strange experience tho. We thought it would be the Asian fusion Vietnamese. Well, it was the southern home-style brunch. Nothing on the website said that. The person who sat us said without introduction, you have two options: a waffle or an omelet. We asked a lot of questions and stayed with the impression that on weekends before 15:00 everything they serve is made to order omeletts or waffles. A few minutes later, a second server comes to us and said you want to go to the bar? Bar? No, we're happy at our table. Then he says the bar is where the buffet is. Buffet? What buffet? It points to the room in another dark section and we see silver containers sitting in a row on the bar. It turns out that it is a soul food brunch and if you want an omelet or waffle, you must tell them in advance. First guy never explained anything about it; tho pleasant, we never saw him again. The second type was great, helpful, pleasant and attentive. Shrimps and grits, roasted chicken from bone, collar and bacon, many different sausages, Mac 'n'Ceez, scrambled eggs, quartered pan roasted baby potatoes, etc. No bread, cookies or rolls we could see. Tasting, but not asian fusion or Vietnamese through any route. Your site says Asian soul food brunch, but there were no Asians about it. And we didn't know to do our homework before we read reviews and articles in the newspapers, there is no mention of the dietary brunch. Are you trying to find a concept that works?
Solid four-star restaurant the food was very good, the service was a little slow, the decor is excellent. The prices are high, but hey the food was worth it.
Food was excellent. The service was crazy and it wasn't a busy night. It took 30 minutes for appetizers and another 30 for Entree. Don't think I'd come for lunch, but maybe give another chance. The food was so good.
This was our second visit, and probably our last. They are no longer doing a Saturday brunch, we are coming from Ann Arbor and that day works better for us. This go around the food tasted a whole lot different than the first visit. 1st time around there was chicken pieces to choose from. My husband only likes chicken breast so this was HUGE for him, now the only choice are thighs. The macaroni and cheese was out of this world, my husband bragged for weeks to everyone this was the best he had ever had. This time it was kind of dry and we waited 20 minutes for them to refill after we asked several times. Food is still great just too far to drive for mediocre good.
