Karl's - Detroit

Despite its association with The Siren Hotel, the Ash Bar is a good spot to visit. The waitress, Lea, is excellent, being kind and accommodating. The food is decent, but the ambiance of the place gives off a nostalgic vibe, making you feel like you've traveled back in time.

You might not expect a plain ham sandwich to be worth $12, but you would be mistaken. Make sure to also order the coleslaw! I will definitely be coming back. On 11/25/2023, I was saddened to learn that Karl's has closed. I suppose COVID wasn't completely positive after all.

I am extremely disappointed that this restaurant has closed. It was unmatched by any other diner in the area and the food was exceptional, receiving a perfect 10/10 rating.

Place is stellar. Don't miss pancakes for the table. They are swoon worthy.

The interior of carls is absolutely gorgeous gorgeous. The food? Not so much. Its expensive and I didnt really like what I had. Plus, the parking here isn't great. You can valet, but I parked down the street at the casino garage. Overall service was fantastic and I enjoyed my experience but the food was just okay. Parking: Parking is rough here. You can valet, or park at the casino garage.
