Bidrage med feedbackUnfortunately, rather disappointing. Our first and only) time at this restaurant was last night. First and foremost, I have no problem paying premium prices for amazing food, but unfortunately this wasn't it.The good: Our appetizer was pretty good and the drinks were AMAZING; good and strong! The restaurant was very clean, pretty and there is a great atmosphere for a couples night out. The staff was also very pleasant. The bad: The biggest disappointment was the main course. For which, we waited almost an hour for after ordering. My husband had the prime rib $28); he didn't eat much of it. He said it was flavorless and the horseradish sauce tasted more like pure mayo. I had a chicken/brisket combo meal around $26). The chicken was very good but it had to be from the smallest chicken on earth; I only got maybe 5 tiny tastes not even bites) off it. The brisket was flavorless, extremely dry and cold. The potatoes were also cold and now that I think about it... I never did get my slaw. The explanation we got for this was that they had JUST gotten a new full kitchen staff. Also, whoever, decides what area the waitresses have was VERY unprofessional to his staff in my opinion. He came out on the floor right after our waitress had introduced herself and gave us out drinks... and then rudely told the waitresses they were in the wrong areas and needed to switch right then and there, loudly, in the middle of dinner service. No thank you to him. He was rather rude to those girls. Our bill came to around $110 for 2 people), but after the waitress did take my meal off the bill. I'm guessing they hear this quite a bit, because the waitress practically demanded to have my meal taken off the bill.My advise, go somewhere else, there are several other places to go where the food is actually good and much cheaper.
Visited on Feb 15, 2022 (dinner) and ordered half rack of ribs with fries and coleslaw; got a mostly raw full rack of ribs with a disgusting rice as side instead. Asked for my fries and was pretty much ignored. My husband ordered steak with salad and mashed potatoes; amazed us how a mashed potato could be so liquid but tasting raw, very chemical taste too. Plus the menu read "topped with Gorgonzola cheese, came with blue cheese... meat was very bland as well. Also, he was given a butter knife. The croutons from the salad looked a century old, lettuce not attractive at all. Other guests left leaving more than half of their meals behind too. To complete this disappointment, it was overpriced for the disgusting food and now, over 12hrs after, we have our digestive system very upset.
Not sure where to begin! I'm not one to give a negative review. Last night we had reservations at 4 PM. There was some confusion over the number for reservation. We ended up with 12 ladies and they were apparently planning for a table of eight. One of the ladies came in a bit late and needed a menu. I got up and went to find a waitress and ran into apparently the manager and asked if we could have a menu. He got in my face and was scolding me and angry and said that we had a table for eight and now we had 12 and it was the biggest night of the restaurant and we were so rude to do that to them. I was shocked and appalled that he would speak to me that way! I asked for a menu and he told the waitress absolutely not, the lady could not have a menu and she would have to get a to go box at this point. In the middle of our meal, I got up and took photos of the restaurant where it shows at least six tables empty. We left around 5:45. I've never experienced anything like that before. I did find out his name is Matt and he is manager. He was so out of line and so rude. We were a group of widows celebrating Valentine's Day together and this certainly affected our dining experience. I am sure that several of the ladies will never go back to Spitfire including me. So unfortunate and so unnecessary. The servers were fine and this review has no reflection on them.
We came here for lunch today. Husband and I shared brisket and ribs. Son had walleye. The service is horrendous. Mind you I serve part time myself, this place had five tables total with maybe 15 patrons total (this is including us) and they had on a bartender and two servers. One good server could have easily rocked the place and given great service alone. Not here tho…with their staff ratio there is no reason your server shouldn’t be checking in on you and keeping your beers full. We arrived at 11:50, ordered food at 12 and it didn’t arrive until 12:50. I kid you not we did not have our server come to our table ONCE between when food was placed until received. Drinks were empty. If your kitchen sucks right now due to lack of help at least give a sorry about the delay apology and keep it he patrons happy with full drinks. But no apologies for food being slow until she arrived to table with the food telling us something about the kitchen staff just showing up?? They apparently didn’t have the side my husband ordered so the server just decided on her own to sub it with something else without asking him if he would like something else instead. We asked for tab when food came didn’t get it for 10 minutes, she delivered it then went MIA again. Luckily we paid cash and could just leave. Like what are the servers doing here when they are not on the floor. Where are they at??? The entire place was empty. Dining room closed off. There is no reason they shouldn’t be out front helping their customers or at least acting like they care. There was one point there wasn’t a worker visible (including bartender) for over 15 minutes. Now the worst part. The food. Sons walleye tasted like they ran out of fish and picked up a generic box of “walleye” at the Family Dollar freezer section. The ribs were super salty and mediocre at best. And the brisket….ugh seriously the worst thing I have ever tasted at a restaurant ever. It was near grey in color. Cold. Dry. Tasted like you put a roast in the crock pot four days ago, had leftovers and forgot about them in the back of the fridge and assumed they were still good and heated them in the microwave. Ish. $100 later after two meals, four drinks and tip we left. I honestly cannot believe this place has any business during the summer with food and service like this. As a server myself I would be embarrassed to work here knowing the food quality is horrible and fellow staff hide from customers. As an owner I would be ashamed and doing whatever it takes to save my business. At this rate it won’t be long until this place is closed. Riding the “off season or covid” excuse doesn’t cut it with what we experienced today. There is no reason for ignoring tables especially when slow. And no reason for serving that food. If you can’t provide hot fresh food due to lack of talent and or options DO NOT OFFER IT!!! I have never been so disappointed in food or service received at a restaurant ever. I would be shocked if they remain in business for another year. DO NOT waste your time or money here. There are WAY better options in the area, and if those options are full and this is your only option you better suck it up and cook for yourself. Go to the store, pick up some awesome steaks to grill and a bottle of wine and STAY HOME!! Lord knows service and food will be a million times better!
My fiance and I ate here on 12/28/21, we both ordered the beef brisket dinner, the brisket was so dry (even with the dipping sauce). I wasn 't able to even eat half of it due to being so hard to swallow. I have never seen brisket (in any cut) look like this. Our waitress, who by the way was very nice and understanding had the manager, his name being Matt, come over and talk to us and his specific response to us was, that the cut of brisket used for the dinners is the bottom cut and is known to be very dense and dry, and that is why they give the dipping sauce with it...and that it just isn 't everyone 's cup of tea. Very unprofessional, and didn 't offer to cut anything off the bill, as well as told our waitress no when she asked if he wanted to do anything with the bill. I 'm not going to mention her name, but she also said they have lost employees due to the manager Matt, and agreed that he should handle things differently when it come to customers as well. This was not our first visit to Spitfire Grill, but it will be our last. We would have probably gone back and just never ordered the brisket again, but with a manager like Matt working there, we won 't be back, nor recommend the place to anyone else.
