Bidrage med feedbackAfter visiting Switzerland and seeing Wiener Schnitzel on menu's but not actually trying it, I knew when back in the US I had to try it! Me and my girlfriend looked everywhere for good authentically made schnitzel, but couldn't find a decent place. Finally a friend from work recommended Kuhn's and we went. All I got to say is it was amazing! It put a smile on my girlfriends face because it reminded her of her mom's home made schnitzel. Tried a knackwurst and also was amazing, but was charged $8 for it, which I didn't mind because everything tasted great. Recommend this place to everyone!
I love this restaurant! Walk through the deli and its a nice surprise in the back. Sparingly decorated to suggest and not overwhelm the diners with the German theme. The service is always wonderful and the food delicious. Highly recommended!
Love the restaurant in the back of the store. The ladies are always happy and smiling. They are true Gems! : ....and let's not forget the FOOD and Bier....German Cooking and Brewing at it's Best! : The German music always makes me smile. : Kuhn's is one of the best kept secrets around.
The store is set up more like an old world German Deli but tucked away in the back is a small cafe. In the cafe they play traditional German music over the speakers and the staff is extremely friendly. The Pork Jaeger Schnitzel is in my opinion one of the best specials they have. At $17.95 it is a little pricey (it is also the most expensive item they offer) but the quality of the food and the large portion means that you can spilt it with a friend or be guaranteed to be able to take some home. For a lower price point item their Sauerbraten is also an excellent choice.
I am DEVASTATED at this closing. Grew up an Army brat in Chicago, and the only place to get truly authentic German delights was Kuhn's in Lincoln Square. Then when they moved to Des Plaines, I'd brave a 2-hour drive to acquire the tastes of my childhood. It is a tragedy that this place is no more. Guess there's nothing left for it but to chuck it all and just move back to Stuttgart.
