Island Pie - Deer Harbor

This place is too cute. We went in before the dinner rush. The lady there (must be an owner? was super helpful and kind. Her daughter is vegan so she tries to have many vegan options on the menu, as well as gf options. The menu did not disappoint! Everything is labeled well, and if they aren’t busy they can make alterations to otherwise non-vegan dishes like the bruschetta. The focaccia is vegan too! They really care about quality here. She brought out my mom’s glass of wine and went back immediately because the glass wasn’t spotless. Then she didn’t want to sell us the focaccia since it wasn’t fresh. However, she did bring it to us toasted with some oil, and it tasted just fine! The LASAGNA. Oh my. This is some real good authentic tasting lasagna. Crispy edges, thick layer of ricotta, rich tomato, veg mozzarella piled on top. And it’s 100% homemade. The ricotta is made from sunflower seeds. I am from Monroe, where we have Jeno’s (authentic NOT vegan friendly Italian food. Before I was vegan that place had the best Italian food around. This vegan lasagna reminded me exactly of Jeno’s. Wife Husband running Island Pizza. Very Accommodating in putting together a Gluten free, veggie pizza without dairy. Definitely will be back when on Orcas Island.

It's a small pizza shop, so best to call ahead for vegan options to ensure availability. They made a special vegan carbonara pasta, not on the menu, after calling ahead. The owner's daughter is vegan, but minimal influence on current menu selections, so far! Hoping someday they will offer a veggie lovers pizza, if gently encouraged.

Island Pie has the best pepperoni pizza on the island AND the best squash pizza you'll find anywhere in the world! Above all this is the service delivered by the owner. You will meet her at the door and at your table as you begin to enjoy the rest of the dinning experience. I'm going back to Orcas Island next year in a large part to get another meal at ISLAND PIE.

The vegetarian squash pizza is delicious, and the cheesecake special for dessert is fresh and unique. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful. The patio is charming. Be sure to make reservations in advance and save room for dessert!
