The food left a lot to be desired though. The $8 housemade soft rolls taste as if they are either store-bought or made days in advance and reheated. They were not soft, fluffy or delicious. This was my first time coming here after it changed from the previous restaurant, Cakes and Ale. I had never been to the original one but I had gone to their small breakfast and coffee spot next door. I really like the simple and taste fully decorated new space. We have the halibut with risotto and the gnocchi with mushrooms. The gnocchi and mushrooms were delicious. We made reservations last minute, not having any expectations, and am glad we did! Drink recommendations: Buck the Invasion and See You Tomorrow. Small Plates: beef tartare, sweet breads (very good) and marrow (marrow was outstanding). Entrees: Pheasant and shrimp risotto Service was excellent, ambiance was cozy/comfortable, and the atmosphere was very energetic. Acoustics lend the space to being a bit loud. Overall, we really enjoyed it and will be back!
FIVE. STARS. The owner (who I did not know what the owner) was visible and making sure guests were seated and comfortable. The venison was very delicious and cooked perfectly. The smoked duck was amazing. The bartenders are hilarious! What's not to love about this place. Come here, sit at the bar, and enter elysium. Worth the price without a doubt.
Upscale all around! The food here is art and it has ruined me for pork chops in the future. Hands down the best pork chop I've ever had. Melt in your mouth good. The potatoes are crispy deliciousness. I definitely recommend the bone marrow and escargot as well as the beef tartare. The server was fun and knowledgeable. Decedent dinner. Perfect place for special occasion.
