Bidrage med feedbackI had no idea a burger could be this bad. I understand that it was created during the depression, but why would you want to eat this mushy nasty burger when the plain bun is 100 times more appealing. The texture is fried mush. Reminded me of a veggie burger from the 90’s. Absolutely disgusting. I couldn’t even finish it.When McDonalds has your burger beat you are clearly in the wrong business.
Small diner atmosphere period burgers were precooked and set aside. Food without less than 5 minutes. However, it was very greasy and had no other flavor.
Grew up in the area. I guess if you don’t know what it is, it’s surprising however 30+ years ago my dad would bring me as a child when we were in town at the print company nearby and it was always a special treat we had (I’m certain you couldn’t eat here regularly). He has since passed and now whenever I am in the area I bring my kids and continue the tradition. We love the burgers. They’re definitely unique. But they’re delicious they don’t keep for “to go” so you have to eat it there.
Meat wash soggie in the middle from the deep fry. Great taste just a weird texture. I like my burger more firm in the middle.
Like most patrons, Penns has been a staple in my family for generations. I left Alabama 15 years ago and have made trips from Florida, Pennsylvania, and all over regularly to see family, but Penns is always my first and last stop. Ever since the re-location and new owner (I've been about 12 times the last few years) the burgers just taste different? The patties are never crisp on the outside, the buns seem thicker and denser, the overall product is half as greasy (which would normally be a positive) but the iconic Penns flavor is just lacking. They taste like someones best attempt at making a Penns burger at home. You can just sense the lack of care and soul. For nearly 4 dollars per bread burger (albeti reasonable in todays market) I'd expect them to produce the product we all grew to love.
