No, this is basque food served and eaten in basque style. You sit on long tables that you share with other dinners, you serve your own cider from 4 big vats, and the grilled meat comes red and tasty! Portions are big,unlike the price the atmosphere is loud and very friendly. I 'm definately going back.
We had a very nice dining experience washed down with some excellent txotz, served straight from the barrels. Our chuleton de buey for two was served rare, but our friends' steaks were overdone, unfortunately. It is a quaint restaurant, with long tables and benches. The salads were very good. Portions were generous. It is clearly a favourite place with the locals.
The restaurant is very large and in first sight very local . We noticed large pieces of meat not cooled near the grill/barbecue. We ordered some fish as starter and their masterpiece of meat. O dear... The starters were all fried and more large than tasteful. After that, the meat came in almost half raw. The chef took it back for some more grill-time but we lost our confidence in not getting sick here... The salad and fried potatoes with the maindish were also not very tastfull so we decided to leave.
