Lovely to see Maggie's own restaurant! (She used to run Four Seasons in south Davis back in the day). We got some food to go; the portions felt pretty big, though price point is a little higher. The seafood (shrimp and scallop) used in the dishes were super large and delicious. Good quality, except for the calamari. It was so tough and overcooked. I probably wouldn't get the braised seafood with tofu clay pot next time, as the flavor was a little too squidy and watery overall. Not very pleasant. This dish was pretty pricey too. The eggplant in garlic sauce was delicious and super flavorful, tender and plentiful! I'd recommend this, and maybe next time I would try the variation with tofu. The mango spareribs were just ok. Some pieces were pretty good (tender meat), while other pieces were pretty boney and and had a funky pork smell. It was interesting, but I would not recommend it. The prawn chow fun was not too bad; I was ordering the scrambled egg version but got this instead. The chow fun was good while hot, but didn't taste too good once it really cooled down. The rice plates looked pretty good (mmm beef curry brisket), as well as their dim sum.
My go to spot whenever I visit Davis; food is great for, and the lady is super nice that makes me feel at home; the sesame balls are a must for dessert!
Super cute spot and super amazing food! The ladies running this spot remind me of family, and the food they serve makes me feel so cozy and warm. Their honey walnut prawns are my favorite anywhere! I love the sauce that they put on them, sweet and sticky but not overwhelming. The egg flower soup is super delicious too! When my partner and I ordered it, a worker personally ladled it into small bowls for us--really made us feel at home, super kind. It 's delicious, filling, and everything you 'd want in a soup. The chicken chow mein was also great! Pretty standard tasting, and they definitely did not miss on the portion sizes. We had leftovers for days after this meal. Not pictured, but we also ordered the beef chow fun! Also tasted very standard, and also had a huge portion of it.The service was really where it was at for me though. I 'd heard amazing things about this place and its food, but I 'd heard even better things about their service. The owner was super sweet and took care of us the entire time. She 's a one-woman show! Very funny, very kind, and very attentive. Maybe she just won me over when she called my partner and I her beautiful babies and wished us a nice day as we were leaving. Love her!
We ordered food here for the first time after reading some positive reviews. No online ordering that I could tell so I called it in old school sesame chicken, chicken chow mein, crab cream cheese wontons, egg rolls, pot stickers and fried prawns. He said it would be ready in 10 minutes which was incredible and yes, when I arrived, it was packed up and ready super hot and fresh when I got home. Only $58, which has to be the cheapest we have had and the order was so good everything we ordered was generously portioned and delicious! Plus parking lot made it easy! I will definitely be back!
