Bidrage med feedbackWe visited this restaurant on our second evening in Darwin after a very disappointing meal at Char the previous evening. What a find! The seafood is so fresh and perfectly prepared by Rachael. The bugs in garlic butter sauce were heavenly, the best we have ever had. The barramundi was wild caught and cooked to perfection. I don't eat batter usually, but this time I ate every morsel. I couldn't help myself as it was so light and delicious. Her daughter is a pastry chef and we were amazed at her lemon meringue pie! Yum!!! It is BYO only, no corkage, but deserves a very good wine to accompany the excellent food. The service was great, friendly and efficient. This is a place you must go to if you like really good fresh seafood, cooked well and served with a smile. We loved it! By the way, Rachael came 14th in Masterchef. If we had been the judges, she would have won it!!!
Rachael apparently ran a business on this site prior to moving to Cullen BayShe has only recently moved back - about a week ago.Her 'shack' is set up after hours in a fish mongers shop.Dinning is on tables on the street BYO onlyServed by Rachael
The bugs were the best I have ever tasted and the fish and chips just perfectly cooked. Rachel looks after the kitchen and her daughter is the front face and very cheerful she is. They are both very knowledgable. The sad thing is, they do not open Monday or Tuesday. BYO goes with their very reasonable prices.
I believe Rachel's has been closed for some weeks and we stumbled across it searching for a quick seafood bite after a long day trip to Kakadu National Park. They had just reopened today and were pleased to have customers. I was especially pleased when I asked about gluten free options when I found that Rachel was also coeliac and understood cross contamination. We ordered fish (I wanted Barramundi but they recommended the special of the day Jewfish) and chips, garlic butter scallops and tiger prawns with salad. All dishes were delightful and their house seafood sauce had a great picquancy. Even the chips were great. We shall be back before returning to Melbourne. Friendly and great service too with tourism advice included. Yum again!
