I've tried the savory Jalapeño Sausage and sweet Almond and Chocolate Almond Croissants. All are behemoths, ultra buttery and flakey, and so satisfying! Guaranteed to keep you full all morning. The bakers def know what they're doing back there. I will try their Kouign Amann's one day!
This is a k9 cantina. more than 6 dogs and their owners stopped by to grab breakfast during the 20 minutes we sat inside. dogs are panting and sneezing right by the orange juice, chips and soft drinks. a woman had her dog sit on a chair to feed it right off the table. two considerate owners did sit outside. i would skip this place if you have allergies .
Didn't quite live up to the hype in my head.. yes, everything on display looked absolutely delicious and beautiful. But, eating them was just a tad underwhelming. They have quite a variety of croissants (salty and sweet), but I think I just prefer a simple butter croissant, or a chocolate one if I'm feeling extra. We got a pretzel croissant that was WAY too salty, which was sad because it was by far the most expensive one we got. We also tried a fruity pastry and a couple other things, but again, nothing really blew us away. Still, I wouldn't say no to a casual morning here with a croissant and coffee on one of their little tables outside on a nice day!
Walking into Village Baking company is like walking into a little bit of France, but here in Oak Lawn. The croissants are absolutely amazing. We had a ham and cheese croissant. Make sure you have it warmed up so the cheese is nice and gooey. We then had a blueberry scone and a fruit bread, which were also delicious. They were full of flavor and freshly baked. The croissants were also fresh and nice and flaky. Though we were in the city, we had the feeling like we were in a small town, sitting outside in the shade was nice, before the Texas heat turns on. This place is also very relaxing, a good place to come read a book, do some work, or even sit, drink, and watch the planes fly by. We wanted to try even more food, but one can only have so much bread. We are looking forward to making this our new weekend breakfast spot.
Has it changed?! Please go back to the original and start putting more almond paste in your almond croissants!! I used to brag on this place all the way from Austin that these were THE best almond croissants around. And they were about a year ago or so. Every time recently (at all store locations) the almond croissants barely have any almond paste in them, like just takes like a regular dry croissants with loads of shaved almonds on top. The almond filling is the best part and what makes these stand out. If your hurting, raise the price but don't sacrifice the quality and taste of your super tasting croissants. The other location downtown always has the rudest workers too..like give you the dirtiest looks if you don't tip on putting a croissant in a bag. Just saying!
