I have lived in Oakcliff for many years and always drove by Mi Sazon but never went in. Today, I decided to check it out and was impressed by the delicious homemade style food. I ordered the gorditas and they were good! I wish I had visited sooner
This is one of those places that surprises with its authentic and traditional flavor,
I’ve been holding back on putting a review because this place was always my “go to” for so long. Then, it got sold to a new owner and slowly things changed. A few times the staff laughed at me and refused to help me because I don’t speak Spanish . When I call to make an order, if I don’t speak Spanish they hang up on me. Well, today was my FINAL straw and that sucks because I do adore their food… until now. I will enclose a video. Today, I ordered a burrito with everything in it. I guess they took that literally. I like to cut my burrito in half and add the chips and salsa they give and eat it like a taco bowl. Today was no different. However, as I was digging in and enjoying my food- I stumbled onto something hard. I felt around and it was a damn metal bread tie in the center of my burrito! Are you fan kidding me?! If I ate that, I could have gotten seriously hurt. I now ate something contaminated with metal and plastic. I will be seeking legal help. So damn gross!
This restaurant has declined in quality. The taste and quality of the food do not justify the prices. The coffee tastes burnt and not freshly brewed—perhaps the machine needs cleaning? The agua fresca was disappointing, and the chips had an off flavor. I urge the establishment to revisit its roots and strive for a more traditional Mexican dining experience. For now, I'm going to give the menudo a try.
