Chimalma Taco - Dallas

I visited this restaurant about six months ago and had an amazing experience, but today was disappointing. The brisket tacos were dry, and the torta ahogada was overly seasoned. The quality has definitely declined; I've had better brisket tacos from a gas station. I recommend asking for a sample of the brisket before placing your order.

Following the owner's response to my review, I'd like to point out that in many states, it is illegal to deny access to a restroom. The ADA also mandates that individuals with disabilities cannot be denied this access. I have a disability, which I didn’t disclose to the server, but she never inquired about my situation or whether I was in distress. As a newcomer to the area, I was unaware of the restroom policies. The server was curt with me; I did not use any inappropriate language nor did I threaten her. It’s disheartening to be accused of such behavior as a customer and reviewer. If there were concerns about my conduct, she should have addressed them immediately rather than forcing me to make a purchase to use the restroom and then giving me the code. After my restroom visit, I asked for some water, and the server seemed upset, apparently misunderstanding my tone. I was confused by her reaction, as I had no idea what I had done to provoke her. Instead of showing compassion, the server’s attitude was harsh, and addressing someone significantly older as “sweetheart” can feel disrespectful. It’s also concerning that the restaurant locks its doors to prevent access due to homeless individuals in the area. I am not homeless, yet the policy of denying restroom access in emergencies reflects a lack of empathy for those who find themselves downtown. Interestingly, had the server treated me with kindness and allowed me to use the facilities without condescension, I would have gladly stayed for lunch, and my review would have been very different. It's a shame that in trying to protect their image, the owner resorted to making negative claims about me. This speaks volumes about the establishment, and I hope that neither the owner nor their family has to undergo a similar experience in the future.

This is a lovely little spot with a cozy atmosphere. The food was excellent—fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend the trio appetizer; it was amazing! I tried the brisket tacos, which were good, but I wouldn’t say they’re the best brisket I’ve had. The shrimp tacos, on the other hand, were fantastic. The decor was charming, and our waitress was delightful!

The best experience and food great place don’t miss this gem! And Jasmine is a great server as well!

Two bad things about this place- first- the food was ok and the service took a very long time. In fact- it took so long that when we returned to their parking lot, there was a boot on our car for being 10mins over time. The price of the removal of the boot was $150. The company running the parking lot works with the restaurant. So for some bad food, no drinks, and parking 10mins over due to waiting on service, it costed us over $230 for 4 people. Felt like a scam and the restaurant is in on it….. I do not recommend going.
