Austin's Steakhouse - Cumming

The atmosphere was pleasant, but there was an unpleasant cigarette smell coming from the bar. Even though we were seated as far away as possible, we could still detect it. The food did not meet our expectations. I ordered the fried shrimp, which were overcooked, and the steak fries that were undercooked and overly greasy. My dining partner had the chicken fajitas, which were also overcooked and consisted of dry, breaded pieces. Given the prices, the experience was certainly not worth it, and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I will not be coming back.

The venue was easy to find, conveniently located right off the exit. The parking lot was quite crowded, which made us think, "This might be a good spot for some local talent." And it was—sort of. As we walked in, we were greeted by a somewhat shabby, worn-down restaurant that made us hesitant to touch the walls. There was a guy at a computer and another guy singing on the dance floor with a microphone, while several patrons were dancing. We turned to our friend, wondering if he had made a mistake and we had stumbled into karaoke night. Nope— the guy with the mic was the band. He was a great singer who really engaged with the crowd, and the audience absolutely adored him. It was quite amusing. After a couple of beers, we started to overlook the peeling paint and the flooding bathroom, and we began to embrace the local vibe, which was abundant. I won’t go into too much detail about the other customers, but it genuinely felt like we were on vacation in the mountains, and this was the local hotspot for a fun night out. The bartender, who was handling everything on her own, was fantastic! She was working hard but remained friendly throughout. I couldn't resist teasing her about giving the guys too many fruity shots, but thankfully she knew I was just joking. By the end of the night, the men in our group were pretty tipsy and ready to head out, just as the women were finally getting into the groove on the dance floor. Oh well, it was probably for the best—by that point, I was starting to think the one-man band was looking pretty cute! All in all, we had a great time. It's a bit far to visit regularly, but I’ll definitely put on my cowgirl boots and a big smile the next time my friend finds herself in hot water with her boyfriend!

And the smell—oh, the smell! It hit us the moment we walked in, an overwhelming odor of stale cigarettes that felt like a punch in the face. As a former smoker who's frequented countless bars, I can confidently say it was the worst cigarette stench I've ever encountered. A simple air freshener would do wonders for this place! To top it off, the furniture didn't seem inviting at all. The chairs were stained with ash and had cigarette burns. Honestly, how does this establishment manage to stay in business? I would love to see their financial records because it’s hard to believe they’re doing well. The service didn’t help either. The waitstaff appeared to be extraordinarily jittery, and while I might be speculating, they just seemed rather out of sorts. We didn’t even stay long enough to order drinks, much less food. When we arrived, the owner was eating at a table and rushed to greet us with a mouthful of food, as if he was shocked to see customers. Overall, I can't stress enough how disappointing this place is. I've visited many bars and taverns, and this has to be the worst experience I've had. We walked out before placing any orders because there was no way I was going to risk eating here. The City of Cumming should take a closer look at this establishment; it certainly does not reflect well on our town. Avoid this place at all costs.

I seriously have no idea how this place survives financially or how they are still open. They have been here over 15 years and never have delivered anything good. They seriously need Bar Rescue!

SMOKING ALLOWED so it permeates throughout the whole restaurant. Food did not taste fresh. Had a headache throughout the whole meal because of the smoke. Just not enjoyable. Thought smoking wasn't allowed in restaurants. Bad experience. There were only 6 people in the restaurant and they paid more attention to the regulars at the bar. Won't be going back.
