Bidrage med feedbackI had a classic diner experience at this restaurant with food, portions, and prices that were spot on. The cute Culver City area is perfect for a stroll before or after your meal. I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich and the delicious banana pancake, but I would pass on the onion rings. I tried the corn and chili pancake out of curiosity, but found it to be a bit strange. The flavors didn't really add anything and it felt like a random kernel of corn or a bite of chili in every other bite. It's worth a try if you're looking for something unique, but I would recommend sticking to their fantastic traditional pancakes. Avoid the onion rings as they were thin, flimsy, and stale.
I ordered a breakfast that included an egg and French toast. The egg was nothing special, just like anyone could make at home. The French toast tasted and felt like it had been deep fried, making it dry and bland. Even adding more syrup didn't improve the taste. The meal, along with a cup of weak coffee, cost about $14. I regretted not going to McDonald's for breakfast instead. It's common for restaurants in wealthy neighborhoods to charge high prices, but it won't affect their business as people still find it charming to eat at a local diner. Finding parking was difficult as they don't have a lot and street parking is limited to one hour without a permit. Just because a place is called a diner or considered a hole in the wall doesn't mean the food is good. Overall, the service was as disappointing as the food.
This is a great spot to visit when you're feeling really hungry and looking to get a lot of food for your money. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The hot chocolate is delicious and comes in an oversized cup. The biscuit with sausage gravy is probably the biggest one I've ever had, and it was soft and fresh. The omelettes are expertly made with your choice of ingredients, and they are generous with the cheese. Just a heads up, they only accept cash so make sure you come prepared.
Really good food and amazing service! We?ll definitely eat here again :
When the trendy downtown Culver City restaurants like Meet in Paris have half-hour waits, go around the corner to this place. Usually no lines, even on the weekend. This place reminds me of the 50's Diner that used to be on Lincoln in Venice. They havebig portions at affordable prices, but bring cash, since they don't accept credit cards.
