Bidrage med feedbackBest fried chicken I've had in ages. The meat was so moist and packed with flavors. It's even great as leftovers the next day. Sides were amazing, especially the cornbread. If it ain't Rooster's Chicken House, I don't want it.
The chicken was tender and tasted good but we didn't get what we ordered. Understandable it happens sometimes with takeout orders on a busy night but less than ideal. We ordered two 6pc nuggets (one hot, one regular) and ended up with hot nuggets and hot wings. Not great when only one of us can do hot. We also got the wrong sauces that we didn't order. We'll try again and hopefully amend this review to more stars because the potential is there.
The chicken here is probably one of the most underrated in LA! I might plan a surprise birthday party for a friend either at my house or at this establishment (if it's allowed). One thing is for sure...the food for the bday will be catered by this establishment. 7 stars!!!!
4 because of some slight food changes I'd suggest and because it was $50 for an 8 piece two sides 4 biscuits taxes and Yelp/ grub hub delivery fees. Next time I'll order take out as it's be like $35. Re the food, ignore the negative reviews. Here's why: The 8 pack meal even at $31 is worth it. If you order takeout lol. The original fried chicken is grandma from the south style but not a black grandma lol. My peepo understand what I mean. That said it is still really good! You can choose BBQ chicken or Fried. Then if fried, you choose original (which is a little spicy and crispy) or the Nashville which I'm told is very spicy. I got the original fried chicken. It was moist, and still crispy outside but yes the batter does fall off. You can tell they likely follow this process: marinate the chicken then dip in a wet seasoned batter then roll in a dry seasoned batter and fry. The chicken is very tasty both the meat and the batter itself, note that it is still a tiny bit spicy if it's original vs Nashville. Imho it is still one of the better fried chicken spots in LA and I've been here 30 years and been to many fried chicken spots. The Mac n cheese is moist if you mix it up, but it wasn't hot when it came and needed a little milk to warm it up and make it just right. Close to soul food style. The greens are tangy as they use vinegar. They also taste smokey. They're good but not something I'd drive there to get alone, it's ok as a side. Better than most non soul food type places though. The biscuits are dry, they are sweet without putting anything on them. But they definitely need the honey butter they give you. I asked for it though so be sure to request the honey butter or honey and butter separately and you can make the honey butter. The meal was warm when it arrived which was nice. I'll definitely order from here again. If you eat it on the 8 pack for a few meals then the average price per meal becomes more palatable lol.
I've never written a review before, nor have I ever thought i would ever, I'm not that guy, but this just ruined my whole day. Ordered delivery on Yelp, that was all great and fine. I'm starving and excited for fried chicken and first thing I notice is that I can't grab the chicken wing out of the box because the breading was falling off every time I tried to pick it up. Finally I pick it up after half the breading was gone and it was this soggy excuse of a wing. I love wings, I even think wing stop has a decent wing, how can you ruin a wing??? Really?? Biscuits were dry and tasteless, Mac n cheese, meh. Cole slaw was ok, one star for the Mexican Coke being delicious. Needless to say most of this $45 experience ended up in the dog bowl. This place is also out of holy cow bbq, which has mediocre bbq, go to maple block down the street.
