Bidrage med feedbackIt has been such a pleasure to encounter this restaurant! From the bread and tostadas to the mains and desserts every dish you get will be a unique perfect experience of full flavor ! I can not believe I hadn't come here before! And tomorrow I will go to try their weekend breakfast! So excited!
We discovered this restaurant a few months ago. Since then we have returned 4 or 5 times and each time it was excellent. Probably my preferred restaurant in Condesa.
We actually met the owner of this great restaurant at his wonderful Lebanese restaurant El Jamil and decided to go. The food was astonishing. Every course offered a tantalizing array of flavors perfectly blended. Even the bread and tortillas were delicious. Get there before everyone else finds out about this one! It makes a lot of sense that this is the work of an award-winning chef and a terrific team. Do also get to El Jamil, great food!
We had the most fabulous food at Poleo. We started off with the roasted Caesar salad and it was wonderful. I had the duck breast and it was the very best I have ever had.....the outside was crisp and tasty and the meat was cooked to perfection. My partner had sweetbreads that were fabulous! We loud highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. It is within walking distance from the Red Tree House which is my favourite place to stay in Mexico City.
This was one of the better meals we've had in Mexico City.Poleo has only been open a month or so, but even on a weeknight they were fairly busy. As they get busier you'll want to make reservations. They did a really nice job with the decor, and service was fantastic (thanks Fernando!). The wine list is fairly short, but we did find a Mexican red on there we knew and liked. Now to the food. Wow. The menu is not extensive, but definitely influenced by the chef's Oaxacan roots. There's duck, chicken, shrimp, lengua, lechon, and a few other plates - all with pretty creative sounding sauces. We split the grilled romaine salad - it was really, really good. It had a lemon-garlic dressing that just worked. My companion had the scallops with pork belly and red mole sauce - the combination sounds a little weird, but it works. She's still raving about it today. Those scallops were perfectly cooked - a light crust on the outside and just done on the inside (she can never find them "just right" like that in Mexico). I had the fish in green pozole. I'm not normally a fan of fish soup, but this was outstanding. The soup is poured over the fish, lettuce, radish slices, and hominy at the table, so it's not soggy at all. The green pozole was smooth, just a little bit of spice, and worked well with the vegetables and fish. It's not inexpensive, but not outrageous either - our bill was about $700nxn for the food - the wine was a touch on the expensive side though at $680mxn - we've had that bottle for less elsewhere.
