Welcome Friends - Croydon

Good value for money. I'm very picky with Gyoza and their pork Gyoza was one of the best I've eaten. The spring rolls are small but dry (as in not greesy), which was much appreciated. The duck with pancakes was also good. The service is equally good. It seems to be a family business and they were very polite and attentive. I live nearby I'll come back again for sure.

I have ordered nearly everything on the menu that I like, and have narrowed it down to the things I buy regularly, and they are my most local Chinese takeaway for me, for this reason I am happy with the place they are quite quick so there's no waiting around too long, and on their delivery they are also quite quick. The only thing I have a problem with is why they don't clean their windows? Curb appeal to me is so important and gives you an overall sense of cleanliness before you walk in!

We returned to Welcome Friends recently, the first time in over five years. Whilst the restaurant is clearly under new ownership and the red flock wallpaper has gone the food and service did not disappoint. The food was excellent, we shared a starter a 1/4 crispy duck and had mains that were chicken and king prawn based. Both the chicken and king prawns were very succulent and tasty. Drinks were very reasonable priced with a decent selection of wines. We will definitely return the next time we fancy a Chinese. It’s good to know there is still traditional Chinese Restaurants in the Croydon area.

This family-run, old-style Chinese restaurant has survived the lockdowns and is still offering its friendly service. The food is always good and the prices are very reasonable; they are not ripping people off to make up for their losses during the pandemic, like some places I have been to. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates the now traditional Anglo-Chinese menu. There is a friendly welcome and a totally unpretentious approach to eating out. Please don't change.
