Bidrage med feedbackThe best Indian takeaway in Croydon! Since lockdown I've visited quite a few and this is hands down the best. So much flavour and cooked to perfection. Thank you Gurka Spice!
I was hungry for something different and the guy who ran the brewpub nearby suggested this place. Been to Mongolia and had the momos there.... And these babies could rival the ones in Ulan Bator. The hot sauce they serve w it with was the max amount of spice I like. The staff was friendly, the seating comfortable, and the prices reasonable. They prefer ca$h, but will take a debit card.
I travel all around the UK and have eaten in many and varied Indian and Nepalese restaurants but none of them have been better than the meal I have just eaten! The welcome was warm and the owner gave me a history of his family connection to the Gurkha regiment! Have used for last 4-5 years and recommend highly. Prices did go up a little a couple of years ago with change of owner but still very reasonably priced. Lamb Jalfrezi is excellent. I am looking forward to the next time that I am in the area!
Up until a few months ago I would given this place 5 stars for great food at good value for money prices but, perhaps through necessity, the typical bill has rocketed from £35 to £55. Food still great but at those elevated prices there are lots of other equally good, and smarter, Indian/Nepalese restaurants in the area. Shame.
We fancied a curry, and have driven past this restaurant many times and thought we should try it. I'm glad we did. It's got all the usual curry offerings on the menu, but also has Nepalese dishes. We tried the Momo (dumplings) as a starter, the vegetable ones, and they were lovely, with unusual spicing. I had a lamb special main, OH had chicken korma and both were very tasty. With three Gurkha beers (very nice) the bill came to under £40, which I consider very good value for money for the quality of the food and excellence of service.
