Bidrage med feedbackWe enjoyed dinner here tonight. We started with a complimentary appetiser of escargot. Entrees we chose the seared scallops (quite small) and the French Onion Soup (a little bland). Thing improved with the mains which were the duck and the barramundi with clams. Both mains were lovely however I wasn't too sure about the combination of Barramundi & clams. Probably didn't need it but instead vegetables or similar. The wine was a 214 Sancerre which was wonderful. Service (all French) was great albeit under the pump. Will definitely return.
Le Bouchon is nestled amongst other Willoughby Road cafes and retail outlets in the popular suburb of Crows Nest! Delicious mid-week lunch with the girls for a special birthday! Decided on just one course each after a week of celebrating so of course we had to make it good and be the epitome of what French food stands for! Both friends chose the entree size and the main size Wagyu steak tartare with traditional condiments. The only difference was the larger portion had more baguette and contained a raw egg yolk on top! Looked delicious and certainly didn't hear too many complaints! There are three types of Moules Frites and I opted for the Moules Fromagere w blue cheese, lardon (cubes of pork fat) & creme! Totally delicious and I can't imagine a better sauce to dip a chip into! Comfort food at its best......luckily I was going staight to the gym from here! Bon Appetite!
Lovely French food, everything we ordered was delicious. The service was also friendly and helpful. The only thing I would suggest is to improve the decor - the outside courtyard is pretty but inside is bare and lifeless! The ambiance should match the excellent food :) Regardless, we'll be back!
The first time we walked into Le Bouchon, we walked out impressed. A few months later though, a love affair was started and 2.5 years later we still go there every few months (both for special occasions and a normal everyday dinner). The service: exquisite. There isn't very many staff but somehow, they're the most attentive staff I've ever seen. Julian (the owner) works most nights and always makes sure that everything is okay. We are always warmly greeted at the door like we're old mates and he always seems very genuine. The food: Yum! The menu changes seasonally so it's always a nice surprise to see what's new. Before you even get your food, the chef sends out little cups of soup as a complimentary entree (we've had truffle soup, pea soup, and various others. All excellent and I hate peas!!!) I'm a sucker for their escargot. Unlike most French restaurants that will give you 8 pieces in a shell, you get at least 20 snails, maybe more. I never fail to order it every single time. The French onion soup is perfect for winter. It's not quite the best I've ever had but it's pretty high on my list. The steak tartare is just the right portion and the presentation is beautiful. I've have it multiple times now and it's yet to disappoint. The goats cheese gnocchi is AMAZING. I had something similar in the highly rated Felix in the Sydney CBD but Le Bouchon does it infinitely better at half the price. Dessert platter: the individual desserts that come in the platter changes as well but it has yet to disappoint. Perfect portions to share! The price: talk about value for money! We normally spend $100 and come out very happy and sure we'll be back for more. Overall: it baffled me that it isn't higher rated. I would rate it higher if I could specially considering service and food for the price they charge. Would definitely recommend and we come back here over and over again.
