Lefty's Barbecue - Crossville

Didn't seem like a barbecue joint, more like a smorgasbord from days gone past renovated. The service was fast and the food was hot, but it wasn't the greatest barbecue I've ever eaten. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great.

Family Friendly. We try to go out and experience new things, and one of the people in my party had only two things she was looking for. BBQ and onion ring. So I began to look on the internet for a place in our area that would be unique, have what we wanted and then I came across Lefty's BBQ. As soon as we opened the car doors we were greeted with the most delicious aroma of meat smoking. Instantly the way the smoke me feel left no doubt that I was hungry for some good BBQ. Walking inside we looked over the little lobby area and were quickly seated. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and eager to make our dining experience the best it could be. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with two sides, I wanted the hand dipped onion rings and baked potato. The food service was quick, and the BBQ sauce sits on your table you have a choice of hot or mild. I ate the mild which was very smooth and not over overpoweringly sweet. One of the party members ordered the short ribs, baked beans, onion rings and Cole slaw. She sad the beans were very good and the ribs were cook perfectly tender, falling off the bone. I give hte place a A+ for the food, very nicely done and my only regret is I didn't give in and get a slice of the pecan pie they offer as one of the dessert items. Would I go back to Lefty's BBQ, absolutely. I especially liked the touch of the manager/owner coming around and greeting us and asking how things were, very nice and to me it gave the feel that they cared what their customers thought. I would recommend Lefty's BBQ.

In addition to my previous review: I just found out the bread is homemade. Wow, it was sliced so thin and smashed that I didn't even give it a chance. I thought it was loaf bread. Now my husband said it was homemade and really liked it but I didn't believe him. Evidently each server slices her own bread. I believe I would delegate that task! It's still a great place and the girl at the register received my comments very well and agreed. I forgot to mentioned that we took home a rack of ribs and more BBQ to KY to the family on our last visit. It was a BIG HIT! They were nice enough to pack it in ice and everything! Super people and a great place to eat! 12 Jul, 2014 Very good BBQ, pricey yes but the portions are beyond large. I'd say two women could share a platter and still have food left. This is our second visit. I recommend it. The only big criticism I could make is the plain white bread in lieu of Texas toast but that is a preference thing for me.

Forgot to add A little pricey. $17 for a pork plate w/2 sides and drink. 21 Apr, 2014 Tried the store by the Interstate. Had the pork plate, dry meat, had to kill it with sauce just to eat it. Fries and beans good though.

The pinto beans and corn cakes are absolutely delicious, and the homemade onion rings are a must-try. Don't forget to stop by Lefty's BBQ if you live in the area!
