Bidrage med feedbackAwesome and authentic! I ordered takeouts, and the packaging was very considerate (see my photo. they wrapped it with an extra plastic film).
One of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Boston. A true hole in the wall! We ordered the chicken stew (S), spicy sour noodles, and sweet sticky rice for $16 per person, tip included. It was extremely well priced as it was able to feed 3 ppl with leftovers. It was a delicious meal. The noodles dish was really spicy, which you don't find often here, and the meat was really tender. The part I like the most about the chicken stew was the potatoes that absorbed all the flavor. The sweet sticky rice was great as well, although I wish it had more flavor. The pickled radish makes it stand out. It could also just be from the fact that my tongue can't taste any flavor other than spicy after eating the noodle dish. Later on, I went again and we got the cold spicy noodles. It was pink and extremely spicy. The fact that it is cold did not help at all and I cried. So for my friends with no spice tolerance, make sure to put a note to make it less spicy. A huge plate of that is only $9, which is such a steal. Even though it is spicy and my stomach was near bursting, I couldn't stop eating it! It was addicting. To order, you scan the chowbus QR code on the table. There is relatively no human interaction except for when you go up to the cashier to pay. The service is pretty quick though. What I find most interesting about the restaurant is that the counter has a tiny library of Chinese books, a lot of which are required when my friend was in China's elementary school. I really like the vibes of this restaurant and I crave it relatively often.
I've never had Guizhou food before so I was really excited to try this place. They have a lot of rice noodle dishes (the rice noodles are round like the ones in bun bo hue). We tried the fried tofu puffs which were super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They seemed to be made from tofu that was mashed with other herbs, shaped into balls, then fried (like a similar concept to falafel). The tofu balls had a strong white pepper flavor and came with a salty soy sauce based dipping sauce. We also got the hot and sour beef noodle soup and the huaxi style beef noodle soup. Fair warning to those who are not used to sour soups these soups are sour! The hot and sour soup had a thick layer of chili oil which packed a spicy punch (I was impressed because I haven't encountered truly spicy food in Boston in a while). While the broth had savory notes to it, the vinegary sourness was strong. Each noodle dish came with a generous portion of cubed, stewed beef shank. The huaxi style beef noodle soup is also sour (mostly from the pickled mustard greens) but not as sour as the hot and sour soup! This dish is probably a safer choice for people with westernized palates. The broth was very umami and had a nice flavor from the herbs and spices it was prepared from. The noodle portion for each noodle soup dish was pretty generous. I thought that the beef was a little dry even though its flavor was nice.
Small, quiet authentic chinese restaurant tucked where Wing It used to be. we'd never had Guizhou food before so we just picked randomly. I ordered the guizhou special sticky rice and guizhou style spicy chicken soup. definitely get the sticky rice- the filling was unique: spicy sausage, sugar peanuts, pickled turnip ? . pickle surprised me but i like the slight acidity and crunch. will be back with more friends to try more things. worth noting that the atmosphere was nonexistent. there's one cashier maybe the only staff member who disappeared very often into the back and no music.
Our first visit. Friendly service, 4 tables. Had hot and sour beef soup, very tasty, excellent noodles, but a little greasy. We also had the chicken dish, with potatoes and noodles, also tasty, BUT the little bits of chicken bones made it difficult to eat, worried about breaking my teeth, and the noodles were thick and soggy. Won't get that again. Maybe authentic, but won't work for American taste.
